I think she moved 42 miles from Thanet to Charing Heath. Enough in those days. I think ...probably Edward Henry steed was the father. I think that she established herself as burrows but that he flitted between Kent and Prescot. Never prove it mind ??

Mavis Report 2 Dec 2015 20:50

I was thinking if Henry B was the "true father "" of Ed G S in 1909 born 1910
it depends if Henry B moved about the country within the context of his work as
Engineer fitter --- anyone know what an Engineer fitters work was -- Steam engines -- traction engines -- railway engines -- stationary engines on farms even cars ??

perhaps Annie moved away from Ramsgate and changed her surname so her husband couldn't find her

I can't get over the similarity to my husband's great grandmother...she was married and with her husband in 1901. By 1911 she had set herself up miles away where nobody knew her with another man with whom she had two children that were "covered up"; she and her husband lived separate lives each declaring the other dead; the things they did eh?

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 2 Dec 2015 18:53

Ah now that's a bummer Chris.......because if this was him, then he wasn't deceased when Edward George married...unless of course it's a double-whammy.....Annie "ran off" with him but he lived a double life and went back to his wife. So Annie became "widowed"

He's the only Engineer's fitter we have found - it's very compelling :-)

It's not the 1927 death I don't think. That one was from St Helens and probate to wife Elizabeth - unless Ada was known by her middle name

Still like him as the man, just not that death

Ooer Mavis!

That looks promising!

Any idea when Ada died?

It all fits nicely....

I am guessing that as Edward George married as Burrows and gave Henry as his father that he was the only father that Edward George knew. So probably Annie and left Edward Henry whilst Edward George was still quite young

It makes buying the Barnsley birth in 1923 tempting :-)
