So he was down as deceased in July 1913, Edith Marriage, but not in December 1913 for Elizabeths...(perhaps that info. wasn't given, or known!)

catherine you are right about sister being named as georges next of kin and it states father is deceased on the roll of honour 1918.and as he is also down as deceased on the marriage cert 1913,he was alive 1909 when son came out of the home/school then they were all back in them 1911, 1909- 1913 seems the safe time limit .

No mention of 'Deceased' on 1913, Elizabeth Sivier, just Bricklayer.

hi, iv looked thro my stuff, roberts wife died 21/4/1908. son charles went into the school 23/11/1908,it was a foster care home/school.he was taken out again 15/5/1909,and by 1911 charles and brother george were back into foster care together, lucy, minnie and frank were all in diffrent forster homes.so robert eitherdid die between 1911 and 1913 or went off as he obviously couldnt look adfter bthe children and work, but he isnt mentioned anywhere after 1911.

That marriage was correct:

Groom's Father: Richard Silver, Gardener

Witness: David Silver; Mary Ellen Meadowcroft
Married by Banns by: Ronald Dunn
Register: Marriages 1878 - 1888, Page 31, Entry 61

Martha re-married:

Marriage: 28 May 1910 St Paul, Walkden, Lancashire, England
John William Kirkham - 39, Labourer, Widower, 108 Walkden Rd.**
Martha Hannah Silver - (X), 44, Widow, 108 Walkden Rd.
Groom's Father: Richard Kirkham, Deceased, Carter
Bride's Father: Thomas Shaw, Deceased, Bricksetter
Witness: S. Worthington, (X); Mary Ellen Longworth, (X)
Married by Banns
Register: Marriages 1906 - 1919, Page 87, Entry 173

Note that the addresson second marriage is the same as on Robert's burial !

It does not look as though this Robert is the one we were first looking for !

EDIT - NO !! - the first marriage has a different father for Martha :-S - I will explore further!

Just by ploughing through all the death records of Roberts born 1862+/- 2 years and died 1910+/- 5 years. Doesn't take long.

Military records of George give Florence Brightwell (sister) as next of kin, so it does seem that Robert had passed away, or was certainly not around in the country.
