Well, I couldn't stand it any longer, so used some credits to look at the McDonald / Hall marriage.

It probably doesn't look as if it's the right couple, sadly.

12 November 1897, at St Aloysius Chapel, Garnethill, Glasgow.

John McDonald, gaspipe layer, bachelor, age 31.
Father: John McDonald, fruit dealer, deceased.
Mother : Mary McDonald, ms Bole.

Mary Hall, dressmaker, spinster, 28.
Father: Stephen Hall, coachman, deceased.
Mother: Mary Hall, ms McGrady, deceased.

Witnesses: John Cox and Bridget Healy.

Stephen Hall & Mary McGrady married in Glasgow1866.
Can't see a marriage for John McDonald and Mary Bole, either in Scotland or on FreeBMD.

thanx for the info but heres an update to where i am now regarding stanley.
the aunt alice who raised him i believe is
alice bailes nee macdonald who was living in dock street sunderland (i would have mentioned this earlier but there was confusion over her marriage name). we also didnt relise her maiden name was macdonald but according to census records her father is also called john macdonald (ship rivetter) but his wife is Esther. but stanleys mother is supposed to be called mary macdonalled (formally hall)

thanx chris much apprechiated...yeah thats the family...i beleive this is the correct family just because of the info i was given and also the link to the hall family in elswick newcastle (90 mill lane) as this is the address given on stanleys birth cert.theres no mention of stanley on any tree in ancestry and was wondering if he was a result of some affair etc.....for him to be born in elswick and then brought up by his aunty alice in dock street is a mystery. john macdonald and esther macdonald had a bit of a violent relationship according to one newspaper so maybe he messed about during a time when his wife kicked him out...just guessing at moment thou :-S

Who registered the birth of Stanley H 1913.

I wonder who looked after him until Alice was of an age to take care of him,as she was only 12/3 when he was born.

(posted earlier)

How long did Stanley live with Alice Bailes, her husband died 1947, as I said earlier, contacting the GR Member who has daughter Dorothy Bailes born 1926, might perhaps be an idea...

Maybe some Death Certs. for people will bring Dock Street, as you mention, have you looked on google maps, is that near Salem Street (Not a familiar area to me!)

(or have you looked on below for any other Alice Bailes names that might also fit, or Death for Esther Macdonald)

No idea if related- could be coincidence but Macdonald family at 47 Dock Street East in 1917:

Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette - Saturday 19 May 1917

WOUNDED:
An official intimation received by Mr Macdonald, 47 Dock Street East states that his son, Driver Stuart Macdonald has been wounded in the right thigh.

Mary

Mary Report 30 Mar 2016 10:29

Yes John and Esther had son Stuart.

Also John Macdonald 1874 had uncle John born Gateshead 1857,worked on docks,I was wondering if he could be the dad of Stanley and Alice Bailes would be Stanley's great aunt.
Can't find any proof as yet.
