Maureen Report 2 Apr 2016 10:59

HELLO, I did send for the marriage certificate of Charles Lambert and Sarah Roberson but it is not he right Sarah as her father is given as William Roberson, Farmer and my Sarah,s father was John Dell, Brickmaker, so I think maybe I will investigate Robert Reggent. Annoyingly I did a lot of research into Charles Lambert and his family which would probably be useful to someone!
Thank you so much for your help

re Sarah Dell, thank you all so much for your help. the Sarah I am looking for is the daughter of John and Sarah Dell of Bell Yard, Uxbridge. Her mother died when she was about 13, I have the death certificate/When Sarah was 18 she had an illegitimate daughter (also Sarah I also have her birth certificate. when young Sarah was 2 her mother married widower George Roberson he was 20 years her senior. They married at St Margarets Church Uxbridge. Geprge died in September 1855, his death certificate says cause of death ulcerated lung, probably caused by his occupation as Sawyer. Sarah does not seem to have had good relationships with her stepchildren.
I don't know what happened to Sarah and her daughter after this. In 1861 young Sarah was living wither aunt and uncle in Leighton Buzzard and in 1869 she married Jacob Fountain at the Parish Church there. They later settled in Lancashire and I have an extensive family tree about them, but her mother is the mystery
she is obviously dead and not going anywhere! in my imagination I even thought that maybe stepson Henry did murder her, as he had previously threatened to do!
If I can track her down maybe I can get on with my life!

Very true rootgather, and/or changed her name.

Just realised you posted the Baptism before me. I didn't see it probably I hadn't refreshed the page, sorry for that

From the newspaper report you posted Tenerife Sun, I don't expect Sarah would have stayed with her step children after George died but she could have moved anywhere.

Ah, well done, that means the Curious Fox entry may be wrong as they have Maud 1855 linked to Sarah Dell/Roberson

Without the birth certificate of one of the children, we can't be sure that the mother is our Sarah.

I think the poster needs to buy the 1855 West Ham marriage certificate for Sarah Roberson to see if it is the daughter or widow of George.

So she could well have remarried as she was still a young woman when George died

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 31 Mar 2016 11:31

Possibly...and around the time of George's death

Windsor and Eton Express dated 04/09/1852

UXBRIDGE.. Henry Roberson was charged by his step mother, Sarah Roberson, with threatening to do her some bodily injury, and applying some distasteful epithets towards her. She went in fear of her life from the violent conduct of the defendant, as he had more than once threatened to kill her. The charge was withdrawn on the defendant promising not to repeat the offence.

Sarah Dell b 1846 is George's stepdaughter.

Looks like George's first wife was also named Sarah as shown on his son's baptism.
