Alicia,
I know quite a bit about this family.

I have a friend (last name O'Hara) and I helped him with his family tree and did a lot of research for/with him.
He must be your cousin because his father is the youngest brother of the people mentioned in your opening post.( Margaret, Helen & Agnes)
Helen Love Seaton Laidlaw O'Hara ( 1st child from her father's 2nd marriage or possibly his 2nd wife's own child) was married twice.
First to Clement William Sutton, 2nd to Edward Guerin

We did find the 1947 McLaughlin/ OHara marriage and I assume they are your grandparents?

Edit:
If the 1947 marriage refers to your grandparents, my friend is 1st cousin to your father

I have sent a PM to Alicia as I still have a large file held on my PC regarding this family.

Helen married Clement Sutton in Rutherglen in 1945.

George D was born in Hillhead, Glasgow in 1953.
It only shows up on SP if you don't put in the middle initial - perhaps that's why you couldn't find him, Alicia. Or perhaps you've only looked for a 1952 birth, as you said. (At least, I assume you've been looking on ScotlandsPeople? You won't find it anywhere else.)

Yes, Helen's first husband was Clement William Sutton married 1945
2 sons located from the marriage born 1947 and 1952

2nd husband was Edward Guerin.. married in 1957
Details of one son born 962 was filled in by my friend as I do not research living or recently deceased persons.

I can't post details as they may still be living

My greatx2 grandfather's second wife was a Laidlaw (from Jedburgh) so who knows, maybe we are (un)related too. :-)

Great stuff from GlasgowLass there -- where were you earlier?! :-D

but Alicia, about that stuff from your dad ... always best to ask the people who have info first, and then the total strangers!

Joonie,
Sorry, I wasn't here earlier or I could have saved you all the bother.

Workmen in the house. No Electricity for most of the day ( last 2 weeks with 1 week still to go )

This Laidlaw family possibly originate somewhere in Kirkcudbright.
We know that the earliest ancestor was called James Laidlay/Laidley who was a master Mariner but worked in coastal waters.
We don't know where James Laidlaw/Laidley came from but, his wife was definitely from Colvend.

He does not appear on any census returns as is assumed to have died before any census return.
2 known children were born circa 1815 & 1818

George was born Dec 1952- registered 1953.

Just in case you didn't see my previous message:

"Son was George D Sutton - there's an address on U.S. Public Records Index, 1950-1993 Ancestry for him living in Woburn Massachusetts in 1993. Date of birth matches that given on passenger record.

If you google his name and Woburn, Massachusetts you'll find him. Married to Elaine"

Alicia,
I have sent an email to my friend ( your Dad's cousin)

I haven't spoken to him for over a year because the library that I sometimes worked at has closed due to cutbacks, but hopefully, he will still have the same email address.

His mother died a couple of years ago but, his father, your grandmother's youngest brother was definitely still living when I last spoke to him.
