Find Ancestors

I wonder if someone can help? I have been quite succesful in researching my own family tree, my husband's and my sons in laws's. My own family were not great at keeping in touch and I can find no trace of my paternal grandfather's death. His name was James Dixon, he was born in 1893 in Prestwich Manchester and married Gladys Birtles in 1921. He and Gladys had 4 children - my father, also James, Lesley who died in childhood, Eileen and Mary.
I am also having difficulty tracing my son in law's paternal grandmother Anne Duffy who was born in 1914 in Jarrow, Co Durham. I can find no trace of her birth nor her parents.
I would be most grateful for any information.

I also found Ann Duffy without an 'e' but the transcription of marriage to Cecil H White in Surrey 1940 definitely shows Anne.

Maybe a sibling for Ann?

Don't worry about the spelling of Ann(e). Alternative spelling of names, or errors, are very very common. The info is only as good as the person giving it and the person recording it.

I have been researching my family tree for many years but Ihave received so much information from you this morning, I can't believe it.
My father,for some reason, would not talk about his family and until his death in 2003, I felt unable to do any research.
Obviously getting my grandfather's age wrong didn't help. It's amazing how easily you can go down the wrong route.
Please tell me how to get hold of the information you have so generously supplied.
