On the 1841 census Roger Shackleton seems to be married to a lady called Grace nee East so will have to think about how he fits into the life of Ann Crabtree and her daughter. John Shackleton seems to have married a possible Crabtree and William Shackleton could have married Mary Ellen Crabtree. The mind boggles.

I had been looking at this 'possible' marriage of a female Shackleton to a Mr. Crabtree which would perhaps explain why Annie was called 'Crabtree' (probably taken on from her stepfather).

This could be Grace remarrying to a Crabtree but I have not been able to trace the couple any further:
