Good morning all
I am trying to trace Lucy Hannah Flear's family I have her birth cert born 9th Jan 1874 in Lincoln Lincs her parents are William Flear and Hannah Lawrence
Her mother died in 1878 when Lucy was about 4y old.
On her marriage cert to James Neal 12th Sept 1908 father William
My problem is
1) What happened to her after the death of her mother in 1878.
2) What happened to William did he marry again.
She had one daughter Elsie May Neal (my mother in law)
There are several trees on Ancestry but they all have her father as Joseph a milkman
Thankyou Christine

Thanks Dea
So if Joseph is her uncle he should be brother to William.
Looks like Joseph remarried after Jane to a Sarah
This line is getting complicated
Do you know if there would adoption records ?

There was no 'official' adoption before about 1927 so this would have been an unofficial adoption - no papers etc.

Christine Official adoption didn't start till 1927 so any before then would be a private arrangement between the parties. More like long term fostering but the child would be considered as family
How old was William on the marriage cert .have you loacated him on earlier census
There must be a reason why Lucy went to live with other family Have you looked for a death for William

Didn't know if to continue on this thread or start a new one, but this has a bit of info that may be useful
Joseph Flear born Washingborough Lincoln
My problem is there are two Joseph Flears one born 1849 the other 1850 The Joseph I want is the one who adopted Lucy Hannah Flear (as above) and father to Doris Lucy Flear
I have a marriage for Joseph 27/05/1897 Wesleyan Chapel Lincoln to Sarah Read father Ephriam a blacksmith which I thought was the my Joseph but now I have come across several trees on here and Ancestry they all have his father as Wilson Flear
So now I'm confused as I thought I was correct but all these tree can't be wrong ?
I hope all this makes sense as these Flears seem very complicated
Thank you Christine
