Hi all I am trying to trace a JAMES WHITE, born in Scotland 7th August 1847. He was married to a Isobella Thompson also born in 1847 I Scotland. These people are my wifes greatgrandparents, and I have just started to compile her tree so any help would be great. This pair emergrated to New Zealand, where I live, sometime before December 1882 because that was when my wifes grandmother was born here in New Zealand.

Thanks for the information you have pased on. I am really wishing had not said to my wife I would try and research this tree. I seem to be hitting dead ends where ever I turn. Hi Liz and Chris, I thank you for all your help you have given me on my search for the White family. I must admit I am a little confused over this family myself, and living in New Zealand does not help. I now know that this line starts from David White and Jean Allan but I have no details on them.It then moved to Thomas and Elisabeth Nicol, of them I have everything but Thomas's death date. Of Thomas's offspring I really have very little except birth dates.
But this is a lot more than I had two weeks ago so I suppose I should count my blessings and once again thank you for your help.
