I wonder if anyone could help me find the parents of a Stewart Hamilton Sharpe.
Born in Ballymoney in 1921.
Would also be interested in any details of a marriage and children born to this relative. We know he was living in Sheffield, England in the early 1950's.
Thank you
Sue

Marriage posted by Malyon probably goes with the Q3 1920 birth of Stewart H Sharpe Aston, Warwickshire and the death of Stewart Henry Sharpe 1997 in Birmingham said to be born August 1920

There are quite a lot of births in the same area with name Sharpe that may be siblings, but I would put my money on this one being a sibling:-

EDIT:-
Name: Samuel Hamilton Sharpe
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1903

Thanks Catherine. Certainly the Hamilton name connection looks promising.
I wonder if he could be his father ? He would be 18 at time of birth which may not be too young in those times.
Wonder about Stewart's mother and possibility of other siblings ?

Susan Report 6 Jul 2017 22:52

Ooooh Malyon that's interesting.
Is that a marriage IN Egypt in 1944 ? Strange. Does it give a regiment ?

Re the Samuel Hamilton Sharpe birth posted by Catherine above- There maybe a family connection but it's unlikely this was Stewart's brother.

Samuel's parents were Robert Sharpe and Maggie Hamilton of Clougher- this is them in 1911- note Maggie's age- unlikely she had Stewart 10 years later:

After finding William Hamilton Sharpe I had started to think that I may have lost my wager.
Nice find AustinQ.

Thank you so much Austin Q
So much info . I have only just got back online after last night and am about to process it all.
I did wonder if the 7yr old Samuel could be Stewart's father. He would only be 17/18 when Stewart was born in 1921 but a possibility ???
I originally found Stewart H Sharpe b.1921 on Familysearch.org.
As you probably know the mothers maiden name is usually displayed but it wasn't.
I wonder if that's anything to do with it being an Irish birth ?
I am mostly interested in him after his marriage and therefore the children he may have had (probably in Sheffield area) and his death.
Many regards
Sue

Hello Susan
I only see a possible son born to the marriage in Halifax 1947. There could me more children born outside of England and Wales.

Can I ask how you know he was in Sheffield?

I did wonder if he returned to Ireland. I'm struggling at the moment as I don't have FMP subscription at the moment- however, there is an Edith Helen Sharpe listed living in Larne on the 2006 electoral register, and the following death to match the qtr of her birrth:

Name: Mrs Edith Sharpe
Gender: Female
Age: 97
Birth Date: 4 Sep 1918
Death Date: 26 Nov 2015
Residence Place at Death: Larne, Antrim, Northern Ireland
Postal Code District: Bt40

We know he was working as a catering manager for a steel firm in Sheffield around 1953.
I wonder why Edith died in Antrim when she was from Halifax ?
Strange when Stewart H was from Ballymoney !
Thanks

You'll probably have to buy a copy of his birth cert to find out his parents' names.

https://tinyurl.com/jqa6729

Born in 1921, he could still be alive.

Edith's death cert would tell you if he was alive in 2015, at least.

Susan

Susan Report 7 Jul 2017 15:59

Thanks Gran.
I must admit I realised it was possible he might still be alive.
There seems to be a lot of Sharpes in Antrim so although this death seems to match it may not be her.
I really need to find the name of Edith and Stewart's child .....
