just had a look at that 1900 US census AG - couldn't quite believe Charles had married someone that much older than him !! And she'd had a daughter aged 50.

Original gives her as born 1867 ..............

I think that George probably died and is one of these two:

View Record George Rushton abt 1860 Jul-Aug-Sep 1900 Birmingham
View Record George Rushton abt 1862 Oct-Nov-Dec 1910 Birmingham Warwickshire

As I can't find him on 1901 I think the first one is more likely?

Donna Report 9 Jul 2017 21:04

OMgosh! I wasn't expecting so much!! Thank you everyone - I have a lot to look at.
What I do know is that Henry Rushton, my nan's granddad was born Henry Crockett - which was a bit of a shock - and this didn't come out until he died - Henry Rushton. Apparently there was quite a commotion as no-one knew!
For my records I did buy the birth and death certificates for Henry and his mother's marriage certificate which links the change of name. I did this a while ago. I dip in and out of my family tree - depending on time mainly. But we've had a bit of a crisis with my nan, hence the request today!
I'm overwhelmed! Thank you.
So, what I understand is that Maria died as a young child (do we know of what/why? How can I find this out?); Charles went to America - did he die over there? and George probably died before 1901 census?
I finish school (I'm a teacher) in 2 weeks so will be able to spend some time then going into more research.
Thanks, so so much! Anyone a relation?? !!

To answer your questions:

Yes, Charles died in USA. Death record posted at 17:37 on page 1.

Maria's death posted on page 1. You'd have to buy a copy of the cert to find out cause of death.

None of those who have helped on this are related to you.
