Bruce ...............

I think everyone is having trouble finding that marriage .... that's why we're all going round and round, finding all these other references to Arthur Albert while hoping that a marriage will pop up

It is of course entirely possible that they did NOT marry

Bruce

Bruce Report 15 Jul 2017 21:25

Thanks everyone for your help and assistance.

The references to East Ravendale and Grimsby (although spellings above are different) obviously relate to the Arthur I am researching. The date of birth on the gravestone causes problems, unless he lied about his age when he enlisted and it was carried forward.
The reference to Colburn will be correct as Lutey is the brother of Arthur and both are sons of Aney Plaskitt. Lutey married and lived in that area.

I am still trying to resolve the parenthood of Arthur Leslie Wells Plaskitt born 1905.
Also has anyone found the marriage of Arthur Albert and Charlotte Rose.
Once again many thanks everybody

I found military records for an Arthur Plaskitt born ca 1866 and for an Arthur Plaskitt born ca 1873.

The ones for 1866 tended to say Yorkshire, the ones for 1873 to say Lincolnshire ........... but then the one I posted had NOK Anney and address in Yorkshire

Thanks Chris- So if the date on the Grave is incorrect and the 1873 one from Lincolnshire is right- then this is possibly another child with his mother's maiden name as a middle name:

ARTHUR LESLIE WELLS PLASKITT Born 1905

He also married, divorced (Lilian Mary Pearson Sweet) and died in South Africa

(was going to find George and Aney 1901, no time for fiddlin' on Ancestry!, and must be going now anyway, just looking at address for Mother on that Service Record, Sylvia posted, think his Father George died 1910, now can't check newspapers!)

Thanks for all the help.
It looks as though he served in the Boer War and then returned to South Africa in 1904.
Could this be where he met and married his wife?
