Thank you all again.
There was another son born in 1912 died in 1950. Raymond de vere Baker,
I know there was an older daughter too Irena Sylvia Turner (known as Sylvie) born 1898 with Roeloff Kotzee as her father but maybe Charles did stay and when he died the opportunity arose for Marie to marry again.
As there are so many Bakers perhaps this Charles who died in Bournemouth is the one I'm looking for. will send for the death certificate I think and see who registered the death.

my elder brother died in spain in 2001 where he had settled with his wife

his death wasnt reg at the British Consulate and he was cremated and his ashes buried there

His wife eventually sold the house and came back to the UK where she had adult sons from her first marriage. She hasnt stayed in touch with our family so no one has any further info on him other than the date he passed

His record will stay closed .

I do know where he was in 1939 . we were all London evacuees and he lived next door to me and my elder sister in Tunbridge Wells Kent

Our sister passed in 2002 and her record is open along with our foster parents , I am the closed record at that address. thank goodness !!!! lol :-D

Records may remain closed if the person emigrated EVEN IF one would expect them to be dead ...................

The records for my aunt and uncle and all 6 of their children are closed.

5 daughters emigrated to Australia during the late 50s and early 60s, aunt and uncle followed them. 2 daughters are still alive down under, the others have all died. The 6th child remained in England, but no-one has sent in a death certificate (died 2001).

Uncle was born in 1896
Aunt born 1897
Children born between 1923 and 1931.

I suppose someone from FMP will finally realise that Aunt and Uncle would be medical miracles if they were still alive :-D

Of course it will also be difficult to open closed records for women who may have married more than once since the NHS stopped updating the Register in 1991.

From FMP:

Why are some records in the 1939 Register officially closed?
Answer:

Individuals’ records remain closed for 100 years from their date of birth (100 year rule). Records remain closed for people born less than 100 years ago until proof of death is verified. As more records become open as a result of the 100 year rule, more records will become available to search and view online at Findmypast. Of the 41 million records, approximately 13 million (around 32%) will be closed at publication. The 1939 Register will be updated regularly.

Thank you again.
On the 1939 Register where it states : Sorry, record officially closed - does that mean the other folk may still be living or just that they may have been out of the country when they died and therefore not registered here?

Thanks to both of you - sorry delay in replying. The one piece of information I have is that marie re-married and didn't actually die until she was at the end of her 90's - in fact I think she nearly made it to 100.
So not sure about the Uxbrige information.
I have found out that marie remarried in 1928
Thanks for the look-ups.
