What about this John William Love birth on 29th April 1888, Tower Hamlets, Stepney on Ancestry?
Is it worth trying to order a copy? how would I do that? can't find it FreeBMD?
Would getting a copy of John William Elliott's death cert help or maybe ordering one of John's siblings birth certs with Love as mothers maiden name?
There must be a connection to the John Thomas Elliott and family at St Georges House in 1891 and at 26 Holywell Row before John and Eliz moved in? Chris mentioned "You would need Cert. for that 1944 Marriage, to be sure of things (a surname for variants also!)" Not sure who's marriage chris means but would gladly order it if it would help.

I was referring to 1944 Marriage you quoted, AQ then corrected, as below posted earlier.

The Doris Wohlmann/ Charles Elliott marriage was in 1939 (not 1944).


The Ancestry reference came from a Baptism, I posted all details, 29th April 1888, that was Baptism date, no Birthdate given on image (as is the case sometimes!)

Just can't see a Birth to match, to order a Cert., it may even have been a bit earlier than 1888!.

No idea why not, remains a mystery, unless your Mum (who you say is 84, and lived with John W.) can remember when he had his Birthday!.

Thanks Chris, you have been a great help and I have loads of info still to look into.
Latest info is very interesting, going to try and match some dates and address up with census results.
Will ask mum about his birthday, luckily she still has great memory.
I don't have John Elliott death cert but pic of gravestone says aged 65 on 28th March 1954 ( not sure how accurate that would be?) would the death cert give accurate DOB?

Well that 10 Paternoster Row was interesting, lol, a year later they got Married from that address!.

You could try for Death Cert., but not sure you will get an accurate date, would give your Mum a 'go' first, they can be marvellous if their memories are jogged a bit!.

Can't seem to get any further with the Elliotts/Allens. Mum doesn't remember anything else, only that the Higley residents at Culford Road in 1947 was John & Eliz Elliott's daughter and husband. The later residents the Balcocks were just a couple renting the 2 top rooms. I have ordered the marriage cert of George Elliott and Emily Love, hoping it might help.

Well don't think you will get actual Birthdate of John, in view of a Birth Cert. not being found (don't ask me why lol!)

The Marriage details for George I posted earlier, as said, Abode was 10 Paternoster Row.

Thanks Chris, I need the cert anyway and just maybe it will give some more info.
I have searched and search for Charles Allen and MaryWragg in 1891 and Mary with daughter Eliz in 1901 but nothing. So need to do address search for Georges House, Patenoster Row and Dorset Street, hoping to find something.

I have the marriage cert for George Elliott and Emily Love. Not sure what I was expecting to find but thought it might help.
They were married on 14th Feb 1898 at Christ Church Spitalfields
George Elliott aged 29, Bachelor, Costermonger, father James Elliott, Commercial Traveller
Emily Love, aged 30, spinster, father John Love, Labourer
Both of 10 Paternoster Row
Witnesses Walter Henry Wragg and William Morris H ?? need second opinion on this as it is the only additional info I have gained from this cert.
George Elliott signature is x his mark.
