but I remember contributing to another long thread about Jane, and posting the 1871 census showing Philip Kolter / Katter living in Bristol with the Stinchcomb family.

I can't find that thread now.

Thank you to everyone who has replied. Janes birth and family are a complete mystery, she only appears in 1875 to marry in Swansea, as a widow...but no previous marriage. Might have been to cover birth of a child in 1873, can't find a birth record for him either. Her birth from census Cork Swansea Bristol. and yes have been looking for years.

Sounds like she doesn't know where she was born, maybe father was made up, or if a marriner they may have moved around a lot? Have you found her on 1911?

I can't make it out nor can I make it fit - but the St James' that comes up in Bristol if you google is - St James Catholic Priory Church. It's listed Grade 1 and in Horsefair, Whitson Street
