Just throwing this into the mix. Probably just a red herring though.

1871 England, Wales & Scotland Census Transcription
Dyche Street, Manchester, Lancashire, England

John Killyroy Head - Male 51 1820 - Ireland
John Hornby Lodger - Male 46 1825 - Warwickshire, England

And many other names. John is a sadler, unmarried, from Skipton, Warwickshire?

Rambling Report 16 Sep 2017 12:10

Well it was just a long shot that it was the same John who had dropped part of his name.
:-(

Sylann Report 16 Sep 2017 11:00

Yes I have those it is Sadler

I know what you mean I've looked for so long nothing shows up for any of them in 1871 not knowing what name Frederic would use I've looked for Rogers and Hornby nothing until Foster marries and 1881 when his father John is living with him
The 1851 census with fanny and John isn't John Hornby it is John Rogers her 1st husband

Thank you for your time I think I will have to accept that I'll never know what happened to the family

It may be a stupid question, but are you sure that John Hornby and John Rogers aren't the same person?

1851 England, Wales & Scotland Census Transcription
Broad Lane Cheetwood, Cheetham, Manchester, Lancashire, England

John Rogers Head Married Male 25 1826 Foreman Tailor Caernarvonshire, Wales Transcription
Fanny Rogers Wife Married Female 22 1829 - Knutsford, Cheshire, England Transcription
Henry Rogers Son Unmarried Male 1 1850 - Salford, Lancashire, England

I know the POB is out in 1861, as it also is with Fanny, but where occupation has been transcribed as "Porter" I read it as Tailer same occupation as John Rogers?

It's getting complicated now

I meant John Rogers isn't my ancestor he was Fanny's first husband
John Hornby was Fanny's 2nd Husband he is my ancestor

Yes John was alive in 1871 This Foster is his son the sibling of Henry Rogers, John Rogers and Frederic Hornby Rogers

And John was living with Foster in 1881 but nothing after that

I think I tried to get who was living at 9 Holbrook St in 1871 where Foster and Martha gave as their address on marriage certificate but think it was empty
There was some thing about couple using the same address so they saved money??

Sylann

Sylann Report 15 Sep 2017 16:36

No I haven't got the certificate As John isn't really my family

Chris Ho Yes that is mine but as I said on that one I have so many Fosters in my tree back to 1755 when a John Hornby married a Jane Ann Foster

But I'm not interested in Foster it is his father and siblings in 1871 after their mother Fanny Died

Never found the Marriage for John Hornby and fanny but when she died in 1861 it had spouse ?

But it's John Hornby 1824
