when she wed she was hodgkins though, do you think she took step dads name untill she was oldenough to revert to her true birth name????????????????

She may have been known as Grout or the enumerator recorded her as Grout as she was given as daughter whereas she was daughter of Mary Ann only

It may be just as the question was asked by the enumerator or he just made the assumption she was Williams daughter so was Grout

She is down as Hodgkins on the 1901 census

Could possibly be Thomas below...
