I'm wondering if I should put this to bed for the moment.

Thank you to all who have helped and made such an effort in doing so.

I do hope this is the correct pair but they seem rather shy!!!

Phil

Thank you :-D

I couldn't see it listed on the GRO- now found it under Barron. However, it is not the correct death- this John was only age 6:

BARRON, JOHN age: 6
GRO Reference: 1861 D Quarter in HULL Volume 09D Page 151

How about 12/1861 Hull 9d, 151?

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 28 Sep 2017 09:24

I did see that marriage, and baptism of a possible child in 1836- annoyingly just before 1837 registration.

Name: William Alexander Liptrott
Gender: Male
Record Type: Baptism
Baptism Date: 12 Jun 1836
Baptism Place: Newington St Mary, Southwark, England
Father: William Liptrott
Mother: Ann Liptrott
Register Type: Parish Registers
----------------------------

I'm afraid I don't see anything definite for Ann in 1841 either.

I'm not seeing a likely death for John in 1861?

Phillip

Phillip Report 28 Sep 2017 08:00

I see - I have found a marriage for Anne and William Liptrott in 1834 in St Mary, Newington, Surrey and a possible death for him in 1838 in Bermondsey?

Cannot see Anne in 1841 or 1871, 1881 for that matter. Death for a John Barrow in early 1861.

Thank you very much AustinQ

I did mention the marriage was after the census- although we can't be a 100% it is the correct marriage, it certainly seems likely given the information.

It was not unheard of for couples to live together as married. Ann was a widow when she married- perhaps they had to wait for her husband to die first?

Phillip

Phillip Report 27 Sep 2017 18:05

I'm a bit confused. How are John and Ann marked in the 1851 census (March 30) as married when they didn't marry until Nov 1851?

Phillip

Phillip Report 27 Sep 2017 09:44

Crikey.....I'm pretty sure Joseph (the father) was a weaver.....!!!

I did see this earlier so thank you for this.

Yeh- I don't think that family is related. I think the image does say Baron. (the handwriting makes the n look like a w)

Wonder if below related to that Edward?...

This family would probably relate to the address for John on his marriage?

Name on image is clearly 'Barrow' not 'Baron'.............

AustinQ Report 27 Sep 2017 07:01

Malyon posted this marriage earlier- this gives a little more detail- note that John is a rope maker- matching the 1851 census, and Ann is a widow. The marriage is a little after the 1851 census was taken, but might be worth considering.

Marriage date 23 Nov 1851
Marriage place Hull, Holy Trinity
Spouse's name(s) Ann Liptrott (or Lipatrott)
