Hi Just found Hannah Hedley 1895 Wigan married John Johnson 1915 looks like the kids where his so they are not related to Mum, will keep them for now , but happy to find out more than I had, thanks again Audrey

Audrey- I'm not 100% sure Hannah's sons were John's children.

They were registered in the indexes with surname Johnson- however, if Hannah was still married to John, even if the children were from another man, they would have been registered with surname Johnson.

The newspaper article re James Ashton's death refers to his two sons. He, of course, may have taken on the sons as his own, but I wouldn't discount them being his birth children.

Hannah's first son, born 1924 was called James H- also indicating he could have been James' son.

Local Weddings: LAWSON- JOHNSON

In St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Chapel, Sabden, last Saturday, the Rev. Father Murray, officiating, the marriage took place between Mr. Richard Lawson, voungest son of Mr. and Mrs Lawson, of 26 Bank-street, Padiham and Miss Margaret Johnson, eldest daughter Mrs. and the late Mr. Johnson, of 12. Pendle-street East, Sabden.
The bride was attired in a blue satin dress, with halo and veil, and carried bouquet of tea roses. She was attended by four bridesmaids. Miss E. Johnson (sister) was dressed in pale green satin; Miss M. Lawson (sister of the bridegroom) was attired in green satin and carried bouquet of pink carnations; Miss L. Lawson (niece of the bridegroom) was dressed in pink crepe de chine and carried a bouquet of sweet peas; Miss Alice Packingham cousin of the bride) was dressed in pink crepe de chine and carried a bouquet of sweet peas. Mr. C. Fletcher (brother-in-law of the bride) was best man. and Mr. J. Thompson friend of the bride) the groomsman. The bride was given away her uncle, Mr. Daniel Ashton. Afterwards reception was held at the Old Black Bull Hotel. Sabden. The couple’s future home will at 16 Eccles Hill-street, Padiham.

SABDEN WEDDING

The wedding was solemnised in St. Nicholas' Church last Saturday of Mr. James Thompson, only son of Mr. Richard Thompson and the late Mrs Thompson of 22, Thorn street, Sabden, to Miss Ester Johnson, second daughter of Mrs. Ashton, of 12, Pendle-street East, Sabden. The bride, who was given away Mr. John Bracewell, was charmingly attired in navy blue costume, with hat and shoes to tone. She was attended by her sister, Mrs. Richard Lawson. Mr. Hector Leaver was the best man and Mr. Arthur Johnson was groomsman, The Rev. E. N. Livesey officiated. The reception was held at the home of the bride. Mr & MrsThompson will reside at 109 Padiham Road, Sabden
