Thank you very much, everyone, for all your help. You have helped me to find J C's father, which was my original aim, but also you have provided much additional information to add to my tree, including his second marriage, which I previously knew nothing about. |

Oh, yes, you're right, Jacqueline - I was imagining Hull to be at the mouth of the river, but of course it's not. |

Careful checking needed, as no mother's name is on James's 1812 baptism record |

My ultimate aim in this line of research is to find the 'Scottish connection'. My mother always told me that we are distantly related to the Campbells so before I leave this Rock spinning in space, (which hopefully won't be for some time yet) I would like to find the link. |

Yes Chris, Annie E BOSOMWORTH and George B BUTTERY were the witnesses. Mary Jane BUTTERY married Richard TERRY. |

I don't know where his children were born Catherine but Mary Jane was married 2/10/1875 in Bradford and died about 1910 |

Thank you ArgyllGran, I notice the misspelt surname on the baptism record, but why i didn't come up with it I don't know, just another of those mysterious things I suppose. |

Thanks for all your replies. I will need time to digest it all but I can say that he was a brush maker. Don't know whether he married again I'm not aware of another marriage |
