Find Ancestors

Hi everyone
Started building my family tree some years ago then because of health
circumstances had to stop. This all seems very new to me again. Apologies if I am posting in the wrong place. Can anyone tell me if looking for ancestors by the name of Smith (seems to be millions of them) is it like "looking for a needle in a haystack"
I want to trace my grandmothers family tree.
The information I have is she was born in 1887
Married to George Arthur Lambert, born 1881 died 1916
They were married in 1907 (I have copy of marriage cert)
I also have George Lambert birth cert and death cert
They had 5 children I have all birth dates.
I have gone way back in the Lambert family but would now like to know more about my grandmothers family. As the name Smith was so common do you have any tips on how I can do this? Many thanks in advance if anyone can help

Not getting anywhere but i think the Smith/Hadlow births might be to this marriage so probably not connected?

The only other thing is that the witness to marriage of George and Ellen, Charles T Tight born Hackney, married in Southwark and son named after him born Greenwich 1910.
