Find Ancestors

I can't my relative Zilpah Rosanna Pryke born 1858 in Wickhambrook Suffolk after the 1871 census. I have found that she had a daughter named Hester who was born in 1874 her father named as Charles. in the 1881 census she is named as Esther, and living with her grandparents. I can't find a marriage or death for Zilpah and wondered if she dropped the name Zilpah and went under Rosanna. Any help would be most gratefully received. Thank you.

Yes Jane died and George remarried.

Esther was granddaughter not daughter. I found in her baptism that her mum was Zilpah and Charles

Zilpah must have been living under another name and the death registration is in that surname ............... but I can't find her any which way I try!

If she died in Paddington, at age 39, under a false name, there are these possibilities:

I believe Ancestry has the Paddington workhouse admissions/discharge records covering the relevant period - maybe someone with access could check for her discharge around her death date? Could help in finding the name she was going under & locate her death registration.

She may have been in the hospital and not the workhouse. In fact the hospital seems more likely, as her children were all employed or married, so unless they had fallen out badly, there seems no reason for her to be reduced to the workhouse.


However, re the workhouse -

an Elizabeth Hurst was discharged 29/03/1897, but whether or not she was the same as died, I can't say.

None of the other women listed above seem to have been in the workhouse.
