I'll check that with my cousin who dealt with them, though if my old man's response is anything to go by I doubt they give a damn lol !!

Do any of the heirs know the name of the Probate Research company? They may be willing to share the bare-bones FT they used for their research.

When FiL inherited from a previously unknown distant cousin, the tree he was given had notations of 'No Issue' against predeceased names, or the names of other entitled heirs.

It could be that there were no apparent heirs, and any estate would be sent to the crown - under Bona Vacantia - for potential future claims. Unfortunatly once an estate is settled it is removed from the published lists so can't be checked.

I think Erica was pointing out it was unlikely to be the same Jan, so not the correct marriage for him. There are also probate (with will) entries for that couple, his in 1996 giving first name of Jan rather than Yanek.

WhiffingSiggs

WhiffingSiggs Report 7 May 2018 11:29

If they had no children and she died in '98 would it have taken 18 years for someone to resolve the will ?

WhiffingSiggs

WhiffingSiggs Report 7 May 2018 11:25

My Jan Wojciechowski died in 1990. His dob was 25/09/1912

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 7 May 2018 10:31

The 1948 marriage to Killeley was in Gainsborough

Both children married in Mansfield

This MAY be the death of the man in question

Wojciechowski Yanek 1922 1994 1994 England & Wales Deaths 1837-2007 Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England

.......and that of his wife

Wojciechowski Barbara Antonia 1922 2000 2000 England & Wales Deaths 1837-2007 Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England

The info above is, of course, speculative

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 6 May 2018 17:15

There is a marriage to a killelay in 1947 and two children born

One prior and one after

Only the cert would say if it's the same Jan Wojciechowski

Maybe they were his children by a previous marrige

WhiffingSiggs

WhiffingSiggs Report 6 May 2018 12:49

Betty Siggs was the daughter of Charles Matthew Siggs (1894-1974)

WhiffingSiggs

WhiffingSiggs Report 6 May 2018 12:47

Wojciechowski seemed to be a reasonably common surname, I came across a few whilst researching this one.

WhiffingSiggs

WhiffingSiggs Report 6 May 2018 12:46

Well, I'm trying to prove or disprove the existence of children ? I understand they would have inherited but not if they weren't alive.

In view of the 1958 ER posted by Erica, this could be his naturalisation:

HO 334/408/46694

Description:

Naturalisation Certificate: Jan Wojciechowski. From Poland. Resident in London. Certificate BNA46694 issued 18 June 1957. Note(s): Alias: John Wojciechowski.

Date:1957 June 18
Held by:The National Archives, Kew
Legal status: Public Record(s)

Added, there is also an earlier one in 1954 which could also be him.

ErikaH Report 6 May 2018 11:49

Surely, the children would have inherited - if they existed?

The fact that the money went to more distant relatives seems to be proof that they didn't exist

One assumes that Siggs was Betty's maiden name?

There are no births to match the info on the marriage record
