Ok girls
I was looking for some info on find my past and some how I got this about john boden/baldwin b in colne 1754, now my 4/5 times g/dad john baldwin was born 1754 and d1829 over the past yaers people some that do this for a living have said how come the baldwins just turned up in harewood h/wood house was built 1750-1790 but there rose garden has walls that are old very old I dug deeper and found there was an other house there gold burough hall or some name like it.

now I know weardley like the back of my hand about40% of baldwins live there I have heard that lord harewood built it for is staff, and about 40% live in harewood the people that live their now some are related to the baldwins.

I got my information from the baldwin family tree on find my past/ ancestry

DEA you could be right I have taken it as ok

MADDIE you areright with what you put on here.but I was told john was b abourt harewood again I haveno proof

ERIKAH I think you are spot on also with henrys burial, As far as I know nothing is proved.

Now from reading your replays I think they both bee married before and john, sally, jenny were part of henrys first marr or part of marys marr.

Now I have to go I have not done with this as yet

baldwin part 2
the reason is I understand that mary thornton and henry baldwin marr as I undersand

were marr 26 fed 1795 and as jennyb1756,sally b1759 john b1754 at first i thought they were brother/sister, henry 1738- 1808 mary thornton where was she from what was her birth/death,i do agree with you girls that my gggg dad was b colne and not harewood but why did he came to harewoodi have john baldwin job record he was gardener and also a gentle mans gentle man, now as I understand it as new harewood house was not built till 1780s he must have worked in the old house gold--- hall. and why was he the first baldwin there. Now I have spent a lot of time at weardley school hols an that but that 60 od years ago ,

no one can tell when the first baldwins came I even spoke to Lord Harewood about it 10 years ago and he did not know.

Know henry baldwin 1738-1808 his father was james so can you find out about mary thornton and henrys dad james and is it posable to find henrys first wife, this baldwin tree from john b1754 to my nanna agnes Holroyd baldwin 1878-1968 they are 100s of them ;-)

regards john hope to here more from you

John, you ask this:

"but what does all this mean I assume its latin,
maria baldwin Filia jacobi baldwin, Parvus filiia, Graia Veepen marsden Parve"

It means - Maria Baldwin - (youngest or younger) daughter of James (or Jacob) Baldwin and a lady called GraTia Veepen. - born in Marsden Parva.

Here is their marriage (as posted by Maddie on page 1):

Marriage: 3 Feb 1721/2 St Bartholomew, Colne, Lancs.
Jacobus Baldwin - Barrowford
Gratia Veepen - Marsden Parva
Register: Marriages 1697 - 1734, Page 100, Entry 9

Sorry John, but as far as I can see, you haven't demonstrated on here that there is a direct proven line from Henry born c1788 to John born in Colne.

Perhaps I'm missing something................

I agree Erika - It is eluding me too.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 2 Jul 2018 13:16

BUT - can you prove any of it prior to Henry (1788)?

You haven't indicated the source of your 'info' about Henry's parentage.

John

John Report 2 Jul 2018 20:36

harewood parish records
I can prove it some where this house is henrys death cert for 1866 which also give his age john comes from parish records and besides that I have spent a lot of time walking around them, they are 2 some at harewood church up to early1840 as the church is about 500 yards from the main house No2 the road strait across from harewood gates to Wetherby road called harewood ave about half a mile there is a modern g/yard about size of a football pitch,

and when I was a member of Yorkshire archaeological society I bought a lot of books about 12 to 15, about census I most of west yorks.

When 1 started this I had a friend brian jones who did a lot of work for me I was earning very good money so I paid for what he did, he was a very good genealogist

other than what we a seeking I would put money on if

You still haven't said how you arrived at the conclusion that Henry's father's name was John.

That's what we're trying to get you to tell us...................

John

John Report 3 Jul 2018 23:05

Erikah
because its on ancestry so I put his name in and got his marr to ann brayshaw sept

1776, it also said the name could be boden/ bawden/, also said he was b weardley,1754 and as they are no more baldwins/boden/ bawden in weardley or harewood.

And as you know I have just got this new Iformation, what you have above is about 18 years ago it is my family and most of my relations living there are dead,i have gone through this a 1000 times just to prove to my self its mine.

John had 11 children of which4 died infant I have got all there BMD and there children
there occ,and there deaths I can show you there graves

ErikaH Report 4 Jul 2018 13:09

Where on Ancestry?

In someone's tree? If so, is it backed up with documents?

There certainly isn't a baptism for Henry 1788 with father John that I can see

If I've missed it, please C&P for everyone's enlightenment. Thanks

John

John Report 4 Jul 2018 22:02

Erikah
I have just spent 2 hours going thro my books and on ancestry, and I cannot 100% say
hear is proof,
,henrys 2nd marr to Elizabeth Thompson 1847 at h/wood there marr cert says henrys father is john baldwin this is from the parish records and he is also down in harewood death records of 1829. and while I was try to find the conecton between john and henry I found 2/3 family trees and they had him down. and I think it is on family search.
As well as that harewoods arcavist told me that as well, and I know there is not a baldwin in harewood before john he had 11 children and apart from William, margaret, james, they all lived a few more years.

kind regards john
