You’re probably right, Shirley.

I think I would be inclined to invest in the 1931 death certificate just to rule it out. It is possible that Florence took on another name at baptism or just liked a particular name.
In any case if it is "your" Florence it should say she is "wife of........." on the death certificate and the address might rule it in or out.

I don’t know if G has his parents MC. If he does, I’d imagine his father’s status was widowed. That would tie in with his belief that Florence had died.

So does George Ingram say he is widower when he re married in 1933

Mind you if he was committing bigamy he would most likely lie about his marital status

That’s whom I’d contacted. He said he looked up to Stanley as his big brother & was devastated at his early death.

A tree on ancestry has a photo of Stanley with his stepmum lily and half brother Gordon

Gordon looks about 5 years of age in the photo

According to the son of the 2nd marriage b c 1935, George W married Ethel Lilian “sometime after Florence’s death” .
All he knows is that her dressing table set was given by his father to his own mother & that it remains in the family.

Yes, there is that 1962 death. As you say, it could be an unrelated person.

Thank you, Maryb - the sticking point is that the record is for a Florence Beatrice rather than a straight Florence.

Lets see if Ancestry allows messages to be sent today. Its been a bit flaky recently.

There are quite a few Ingram marriages in and around London to women with the name Florence B. so the death could be any one of those.

Mary

Mary Report 1 Aug 2018 10:45

It has at the side of Florence b 31 so born @ 1900 which fits.
On ancestry.co.uk you have to put in search for that death

Died 03/1931

Yes contacting the tree owners is the next step. The Ancestry Tree, the one with loads of photo's, seems to be a different Melton descendent. He may have been told why she disappeared, even if he doesn't know where.

Are you in contact with George and Lily's descendants in the hope that they heard what happened to Florence?
They feature in trees on this site.

Do you know for sure that it was the same George who married both women?

Well the 1931 death cert won't give a date of birth to double check

Maybe the marriage cert fro her fathers name will pinpoint the right Florence birth

Shirley, although it’s possible, it doesn’t ‘feel right’. I’m wondering if she left him & he remarried bigamously after 7 years.

Unfortunately I don’t have Florence BC, nor was she baptised, to know her dob.

There’s loads of Ingrams & Coveneys!

Would be worth getting that 1931 death for its info

Maybe the informant thought she had a second name

The death would fit with the later remarriage of John Ingram

Although I haven't explored the Ingram ancestors, could the Florence M be a sister?
