Can anyone help with finding out more about Christina McGilvray Clow born 1899 in Glasgow - died 1921 in Govan, Glasgow. Her father was Malcolm Clow born 1867 - died 1906 - mother was Flora Clow nee McRae born 1865. Christina had a son in 1913 named Neil Baker Clow, father unkown. Any help would appreciated.

What are you asking, please?

If she didn't marry, and you know her child's name, plus her parents' details, there probably isn't any more to find out

Was Neil adopted?
I can't see any record for him other than his birth.

This is the only Neil Clark death in Glasgow in 1977.

If her father had died and her mother widowed, it may be worth checking out the Poor Relief records. They are indexed and held in The Mitchell Library in Glasgow.

The only Christina Clow of the correct age in 1911 seems to be living with a Clow family in Dumbartonshire. I don't have credits for Scotlandspeople to check her place of birth. I am not seeing Flora on the 1911 census but perhaps she was Mistranscribed.

EDIT

Just noticed that Neil's birth was registered in both Blytheswood a St. Rollox districts. This would suggest that he was born in hospital. Before the days of the NHS this would have had to be paid for so definitely worth checking out the Poor Relief.

Presumably you have the birth certificate which would give the address where he was born and his mother's usual address. Who registered his birth please? Was it his grandmother, Flora? Is so, that may help locating her in 1911.

Could his father have been Neil Baker?

Marriage relating to the info on the tree which Maddie found:

PARKER
CATHERINE
CLARK
NEIL

But still no middle name for Neil, so the only way to prove if he's the right Neil or not would be to spend some credits on SP to see the document.

Re not finding Flora and Christina in 1911 -

it seems likely they were in Tradeston - but there appear to be no 1911 results at all for Tradeston on SP - not for any name.

rootgatherer Report 26 Aug 2018 23:04

Strange! There doesn't seem to be any results for Tradeston. I've just looked up some of my family who came from there and they seem to be listed under Gorbals. Without looking at my tree, perhaps they had moved a few streets into the Gorbals district between 1901 and 1911.
