	Trying to tie up a few loose ends - as she's a 1st cousin, 3 times removed, certificates won't be purchased. She was born in Minster, Sheppey, Kent birth reg 4Q 1873. I have her with her parents, father Michael & mother Mary (nee Banner) up to 1891, & possibly 1901 as a servant in Surrey. 1901 Ellen Chapman Age: 27 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1874 Relation to Head: Servant Gender: Female Birth Place: Sheerness Sheppey Civil Parish: Kingston on Thames Ecclesiastical parish: Kingston All Saints Town: Kingston on Thames County/Island: Surrey Country: England Registration district: Kingston Sub-registration district: Kingston ED, institution, or vessel: 10 Neighbors: View others on page Piece: 663 Folio: 94 Page Number: 12 Household schedule number: 65 Household Members: Name Age William T Beach 48 Elizabeth Beach 47 William Beach 24 Mabel Beach 22 Alice M Beach 20 Anna M Green 22 Ellen Chapman 27 Census away from the Isle of Sheppey often give Sheerness as pob as its the nearest town. After that, there's a possibility of a marriage on Sheppey Ellen Chapman Registration Year: 1905 Registration Quarter: Apr-May-Jun Registration district: Sheppey Inferred County: Kent Volume: 2a Page: 1983 Records on Page: Name Ellen Chapman John Lewis However, I can't find an Ellen/Nellie & John Lewis in 1911 to confirm or otherwise. It could be a red herring! Any ideas please?

	Brilliant! Thank you. I've since found the Lewis children & their 1911 census. I hadn't looked for a Pay/Chapman child. Any sign of Charles Pay & Ellen's death please?

	I found an Ellen Pay died 1911 registered Milton, age 38 Deaths Sep 1911 (>99%) Pay Ellen 38 Milton 2a 1271 bit don't know Kent enough to know if the district is a possible

	Thank you. Halfway cemetery records are also online. From memory, some of them were damaged in a flood/water leak and have 'run'. It's ages since I've looked at the Sheppey branch. http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~penney/genealogy/cemetary/cemetary.htm

	Sorry - missed the possible death for Ellen Pay in Milton. Milton is part of Sittingbourne,Kent & isn't that far away from Sheerness, Isle of Sheppey.

	If that is Ellen's death, then it means that she died not long after Leslie was born ...... I If it is Ellen, I wonder what happened to the children? Could they have gone to Dr Barnardo's or been Home Children, or adopted?????

	Strange, but none of the children show up under the surames Lewis or Pay after their birth registrations or the 1911 Census

	I did find Harold John Lewis - he married Joyce Irene Cox in 1932 & died in 1961, Hastings. She died there in 1988. Spencer George Lewis disappeared with his half-brother. Could they have been adopted or acquired foster parent's surnames?
