as I said FMP is in the process of updating and opening records by comparing dates of birth on the 1939 with death records, and then opening up the record.

Married women create more of a problem than men, because they change their names, often more than once.

You're lucky, others are not so lucky, and will have to wait until FMP finds them, or a relations ends in a copy of the death certificate as proof and asks for the record to be opened.

I googled 'Admiral Povey'

The only result was for a character in 'The Navy Lark' an old radio programme

So, no progress there.

She died after the NHS stopped updating the 1939 Register, which was 1991/92, and FMP probably have not yet caught up.

They are working hard to match up deaths with closed records ........... but in her case, she was also married after 1939, and so FMP will have to check the marriage record (which should have been updated) for her death.

Currently, she falls within the 100 year rule, so may be some time before the record is opened.
