i am looking for the family of Christopher Cyster
If ive worked this out properly, he had a son who was hanged for murder in 1888.
He caught a burgular in his house, beat him up and the burgular fell and hit his head.
He then tried to hide the body in a rubbish dump.
Christopher Cyster was married to Ellen susan Cyster. He was born 1850.

Ive got most of the information from my mother who was the daughter of Christina Cyster, daughter of Christopher Cyster. she told me the story of the son who was hanged in1888. It seems there may have been some confusion in the story, but you have some information there that looks familiar particularly chalfont st giles and his wifes first married name was Harverson.
Its a pity because my mum is no longer here to ask more,

Have you thought about looking at the newspapers for a murder about the right time. If th3 culprit was hanged the case is most likely to have been written about.

Christopher Cyster and Ellen Susan Harverson did not have any children.


If some earlier Cyster was hanged for murder, I don't see anything about it in the British Newspaper Archive - though could be badly mistranscribed.

This all looks like my mum's, mum's family, it all fits.
I think it's a case of Chinese whispers, it's got mixed up as its been passed down. Not sure what to do with the murder case because there was a detailed story that went with it. It had come from a neighbour who knew the family, she told my mum, I suppose she could of got the date wrong.
