Find Ancestors

Hi all, a distant cousin has asked me to help with family tree and I can help her with the Eaton side as both our Grandmothers were sisters. The person I can't find is her Grandfather. This is all she knows, his name was James R ( think Robert)Simpson, believed to be born in Nottinghamshire. When he died in 1942 registration was 42 years old. He married Alice May Eaton June qtr 1925 registered at Mansfield, marriage would have been Warsop, Notts. I was hoping to get the 1911 or 1921 census or even the 1939 register which might give me a clue. Thank you for any help on this.

From the date of registration, and from the info you've given, James Robert, registered in Tunbridge, seems the most likely one.
He may have been born at the end of 1900.


But there's no Simpson/Hatch marriage in England/Wales 1870-1910 - nor in Scotland.

Thank you, the 1939 is certainly correct, my Great Grandfather was Samuel Chappell Eaton.

James certainly seems a mystery. Hate it when you can't find people, but thank you for the 1939, he didn't live much longer.

So with Fathers name I should be able to find him in the 1911 census ?

On the 1939 Register, James's DOB is given as 9 Dec 1900.

NO - that can't be the right marriage. (And in any case can't see an earlier marriage for Lilian to account for James's mmn Hatch).

James Robert isn't with them in 1901 or 1911.
