Comparing the FMP 1939 record of Doris and son William, and the Ancestry image, FMP indicates 5 people in the household, with Doris listed after her son, in the transcription posted by ErikaH.

Ancestry's image only indicates four people - two closed records before young William's line, and one closed record after him.

The first two closed records should be his parents, and the one below William is probably his sister, although normally she would be listed before him, as she was older.

I suspect it's an error by FMP.............there was only one son of the Oldfield/McLennan marriage and OP says she got info 'from the son'.

We need feedback..................................

FMP is often more up-to-date/correct than Ancestry when it comes to open records in 1939.

Young William's is open on Ancestry, but Doris's isn't, except on the corrections page.

The info I posted was from FMP, and appears to be the original.

Aha! I should have thought of checking for children.

On Ancestry, when I look at the 1939 record for young William above, Doris's record is still redacted.

She only shows up on the page of corrections, as posted earlier.

Also, I find now - I had searched 1939 for "Byron Street", without any person's name, and didn't get any results in Barrow.
If I had searched just for "Byron", the whole streetful would have shown up.
