First, I would like to start by saying thank you for your help. However, l have come to learn that the whole side of my dad's mother's side of my family tree is all wrong. I have to start again.

So l am asking for some help to restart my Grandmother's tree again.

Annie Colclough 1905-1962 married Bertrum Knox 1905-1973

Annie Colclough 1905
Edith May Colclough 1912

Were both born out of wedlock and carried their mother's surname of Colclough.

Annie /Edith's mother was named

Ann Jane Colclough 1881 went on to marry Thomas Chamber 1879-1918 died in WW1 in France. They went on to have a child named.

Thomas Chambers 29th December 1915-1977 son of Thomas/ Ann

Ann 1881 parents are

Samuel Benjamine Colclough 1855
Sarah Simpson 1865

I think Thomas Chambers mother maiden name is Warrilow

Go back and read through your earlier threads. Take in the advise and sources used or given.
Use that to do your research.

To find the mmn for Thomas Chambers find his birth reference and look him up on the GRO this will now give his mothers maiden name.

Thank you all for the information. I have gone wrong on my dad mother side of the family the Colclough's.

My father would never talk about is family l don't know why. He dead now so l cant ask him. I will try and explain.

Many years ago l bought my grandmother birth certificate. It did say father unknown. I also have seen a copy of my nan and grandad Marriage certificate and on it it list Annie dad as Thomas Chambers. As l know nothing of my dad family. I did find a cousin however, he researched the Knox side more.

I need some help in find some information about the following people.

Ann Colclough birth 1881 in Stoke on Trent

Ann Colclough had 2 daughters out of weblock. I know l can only trace the mother side.

Annie Colclough 1905 married Bertram Knox-- grandparents.

Edith May Colclough 1912.

Ann went on to Marry a Thomas chambers 1880 he was killed in WW1 in France.1918

they had a child

Thomas Chambers 1915.

What l would like help on is.

On which census have you treid to find the woman?

Do you know when and where she was born and the name of - at least - her father?

Her father’s name….if she knew it - will be on the 1882 marriage certificate….get a copy for accurate info

I’m fairly sure you’ve been told all this before…..the cert is on FMP!!

Sarah’s father was WILLIAM. Her address when she married was CHATHAM Street

Use ADDRESS SEARCH option on FMP to try to find her in 1881

She said she was 22 when she married, so your suggestion that she was born c1863 is not accurate Try searching again using correct birth year info

Thomas Chmbers was single in 1939, DoB 29/12/1915, which you have been given before

He died in 1977 - buy a copy of the death certificate for info about whether he had a wife
