I think the birthplace is Signet. The enumerator has used a double T at the end but the placename is spelt with one. It is just south of Burford. Kath. x |

Thank you all I thought 'Monk' for the surname, but deliberately didn't say so, as I didn't want to influence your opinions. And the place name is a new one on me........so that's something I've learned today. Thanks again Reg |

1861 census, transcribed as James Clark, nephew, 3, born Signett, Oxfordshire. I am querying both his surname and the birthplace. Any - and all - ideas welcome. Thank you. Reg |
