Julie thanks so much for your help , i looked at alice's mothers maiden name to see if she had used that but her mothers maiden name was chase . alos the fact that walter and alice dimmock lived in tottenham in the 1881 census then walter was born in wimbeldon the all walters brothers ans sisters were born in tottenham they are in tottenham again in the 1891 census i thought i would look at the address on the 1881 census to see if any of her family were living at the address but noe of the names meant any thing to me i looked also to see if alice had married before but she hadnt and she was 17 when she married walter ? i supose it will remain a mystery i know it is the right certificate thanks again julie Tracy

Tracy I really don't know what to say, that is strange. I was trying to find her in the 1871, and there is an Alice Dimmock 1864 Paddington, Middlesex and Alice Ford b 1861 Staines, Middlesex and on the 1881 and 1891 your Alice says born 2 different places. I'll have to give up sorry Julie

Hi Julie thanks its a bit of an odd one My x2 great grandfather walter john methven married alice lilla dimmock 1880 first child was walter john orrock methven the only one i could find was born in 1884 which tallys up with all the census i have for him born in wimbeldon surrey so ordered the birth certificate and it says his mothers maiden name is FORD I also have another of their sons birth certificate james methven which sates his mothers maiden name as dimmock which is right The walter john methven james and walters father his mothers maiden name was orrock so i know i have the right walter john orrock methvens birth but why the different maiden name Bet you wish you hadnt asked now The address i was looking at is where walter john orrock methven was born there are no other walter john orrock methvens born and his birth tallys with the census Thanks if you can help Tracy x
