She might not have married after Charles. Just used MacFarlane as her name. My GGGrandmother did just that.

Hayley Report 22 Nov 2006 13:02

Ok. Well i emailed the Tees Valley indexes site. I asked them if the mother of ELIZABET MCFARLANE was Frances, they confirmed it was, i then asked if her maiden name was Sawkill, they confirmed that it was! So it looks like they are the same people, but now i can't find a marriage of a Frances/Francis to a McFarlane! I'm stuck again as coz she seems to have been married so many times i just don't know where to turn!!

Was wondering were Emily was on 1881 census and found this. Samuel WEST Head M Male 84 Friston, Suffolk, Market Gardiner Sarah WEST Wife M Female 60 Farnham, Suffolk Sarah E. HANBY Dr In Law M Female 31 Barnaby, York, Mary HANBY Gd Daur U Female 7 Hartlepool, Durham, Scholar John Wm. HANBY Gd Son U Male 4 Hartlepool, Durham, ******* Emily HANBY Gd Daur Female 1 Hartlepool, Durham, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source Information: Dwelling Cox Wells Census Place Leiston, Suffolk, England Family History Library Film 1341456 Public Records Office Reference RG11 Piece / Folio 1890 / 122 Page Number 28 Also it looks like James Hanby died 1878 in Stokesley age 27, so Emily born 1880 can't be his child. Well she married Charles Robertson but i can't find them together in the 1891 census and then i found the Francis Macfarlan, with a son Henry which is right and being born in Stokesley in the right year! All just adds up! She obviously liked weddings!!!!!

I think the only way we're gonna find out who the bloke is, is if you get the birth cert for Elizabeth. She will definitely be his (well, probably lol) Might be your only way to find it. I can't find anything else.

Hayley

Hayley Report 20 Nov 2006 21:51

Your right, that marriage probably was hers but She married in 1864 to a man named steel, married in 1873ish to a man named Hanby, married in 1882 to a man named Roberston and so could possibly have married again to the man name Macfarlane
