Thanks for looking. I have no proof Albert and Eliza were mine anyway. It might have been a coincidence.

Hi Annie The only possible sighting for Albert Wilton- Albt Wilton (born ENG)married Emily Pixton 1899 in VIC reg no 2339. But could not find a death for Eliza/Elizabeth so probably not him. No children found for Albt & Emily or any more for Albert & Eliza or any likely deaths in VIC. Kerri

Thankyou very much for Moses Wilton. I have sent for his youngest brother's birth certificate so I hope to confirm that he is mine. I went to the Australian government web site and found Moses aged 21 as an unassisted passenger on the Prince Arthur in 1851 thankfully he hung around long enough for the census. This fits in with what I have got. However also on board were Albert Wilton age 34, Eliza Wilton 32 and Eliza Wilton aged 6. I wonder if it is possible to find a death entry for Albert and to see if he came from near Bath. I don't know his parents would be. Don't spend too long on this one.

Hi Kerri You are a fountain of information, it is so kind of you to help so many people. Finding out the details of my GG Grandfather, George Embelton/Embleton's arrival in Australia is wonderful, thanks so much. Sorry I gave the wrong year date for Mary A, George Jnr's wife was also Mary A and it is confusing with two Mary A's marrying two George Embeltons. One would think that Mary A Wilkerson would have been born around 1835-1839 which would mean she would have been 17 - 21 yrs when she married in 1856 so would you mind looking up a birth for her around those year dates. Thanks again....Lyne

Hello Kerri, thank you for your kind offer. One of my uncles moved to Australia in the late 1800s or early 1900s and settled in Foots Cray, Victoria. He was either George Steward, born 1878,William Stewart, born 1885 or Charles Stewart born 1898. They were all born in Foots Cray, Kent and their parents were Frank Donald Stewart, born 1850 in Rye and Mary Palmer born 1854 in Portsea Island, Hampshire. Anything that you find will be very much appreciated. All the best, Kathleen.

Thankyou very much. I will do some more digging but if it checks out you have just found a maiden name for my great great grandmother and broken down a major brick wall. I think we forget how adventurous our ancestors were.

Yes please. Kerri, His birth place could be Gloucestershire. I have Gloucestershire for his two older brothers. Thanks again. I will have to see if I can find a marriage that fits for his parents to confirm things.

Kerri Report 12 Aug 2006 11:53

Hi Annie Only says birth place Bath on marriage to Catherine Woodhams in 1868 but then it looks like Catherine died & he remarried to Elizabeth Fanny Anderson. On this it says birth place Gloucestershire. Some children born to both marriages-do you want them? Kerri

Thanks Kerri. that was quick. I am sorry I don't know Moses mother's maiden name. I only have his parents as Joseph and Mary from the census. Does your information give a place of birth? Moses is quite an unusual name and with the right parents names as well I should think it is certainly possible. Both of his parents would have been from Gloucestershire.

Hi Lynne Mary Ann Wilkerson married George Embleton in 1856 (no place recorded) in 1856; why would she be born 1862-64? Earliest birth for a Mary Wilkerson is 1843. Robert ,Thomas Wilkerson,Joseph,Elizabeth Dickerson all born Durham,VIC ,others born Ballarat , Hannah born Buni. I believe Elizabeths middle name has been mistranscribed & should be Wilkinson. Geo Embleton arrived VIC on ship 'Ocean Chief' in Aug 1854,aged 23,code B,fiche 073 (no other Embletons on this ship) Kerri

Thankyou very much for your kind offer. I have lost one of my Wiltons. Moses Wilton born Kelston near Bath Somerset about 1828. I have him in Kelston on the 1851 census then nothing. However Somerset family history have a Moses Wilton from Bath getting married in Victoria in 1868 to Catherine Woodhams in their stray index. I wonder if you could find out any more. Moses's parents were Mary and Joseph. My father always claimed to have an uncle in Australia so it is possible. Moses would have been his great uncle. Don't spent too long on this one as it is only a hunch.
