Sorry to everyone who has been trying to help me with finding the above connection. I have only just started using the site and wasn't sure how to look at the replys from the message I put on the site, let alone how many I would have and how good everyone is. Here is what I know already: Howard Thompson was born out of wedlock to Sarah Thompson on 13th May 1883 and he later became a baker lived in Northampton and eventually moved to Bozeat. On his marriage certificate it states that his dad name was James Thompson. As his mother was single but later married a James Haynes in1885 and they moved to India where they had a son William Haynes born c1886 and son was born in Ireland after James Haynes died in Bangalore,India. I was assuming that perhaps James Haynes may have been Howards father also although I have no way of proving this. Sarah Thompson / Haynes who was born c1865 later married a Mr Hazell also in the army? and had another son called Albert in c1891 born at Sileby Leics. My father-in-law recollects his brother and sister visiting Sarah at a shop in the leicester area but have not been able to trace a death. I found the family on the 1901 census which showed her at Newfound Pool, Leics aged 36 and stating she was born in Loughborough and have not been able to trace this back any further. Thanks Irene Thompson

Hi Irene, Firstly here is what looks like the birth of Albert: Name: Albert Cyril Hazell Year of Registration: 1891 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Barrow Upon Soar County: Leicestershire Volume: 7a Page: 155 (click to see others on page) Also on 1901 Sarah is married still. Do you know Mr Hazells forename? Laurie

Hi Irene, Here is Howard on 1891: Record Herbert Payne abt 1874 Northamptonshire, England Lodger Milton Northamptonshire View Record Howard W Thompson abt 1884 Northamptonshire, England Nephew Milton Northamptonshire Record John Johnson abt 1846 Leicestershire, England Head Milton Northamptonshire View Record John H Johnson abt 1874 Leicestershire, England Son Milton Northamptonshire View Record Sarah Johnson abt 1835 Leicestershire, England Wife Milton Northamptonshire What is confusing about this is that if Howard is the nephew then his mother must be the sister of either the head or his wife. Now I can't see any connection with John at the minute and also there is no way a mother is going to call both her daughters Sarah!! Also this Sarah is 30yrs older than yours?!! Does it actually say that Howards parents weren't married cause that's also strange (not uncommon) that they have the same surname. Laurie
