I have no credits left for Scotlands people and need the death record for Mary Jane O'Hagan, nee O'Donnell. Mary Jane was born in Ireland but she came to Glasgow, Scotland with her husband and gave birth to a son Thomas O'Hagan in 1884. Her husband was Patrick O'Hagan, they married in 1878 putting her birth possibly circa 1860(?) If anyone could look up this death and get me Mary Jane parents names i would be very grateful. Thankyou Debbie

Hi Debbie, It won't give you Mary Jane's parents names on her death certificate as she was married when she died. You could maybe get them on the marriage certificate if she married in Scotland. Betty.

Hi Betty I also have Scottish death certs which give the deceased parents names, though they aren't always the right names. It must be different in different Counties. Debbie

Hi Debbie, My mother had her parents death certificates and she never did know who her grandparents were but although her mother and father were married in Dundee her grandparents were Irish. This may be the reason, I just don't know!! But my husbands parents death certificates didn't have his grandparents names on them either and one was Scottish and the other English.?? So strange how it different. Betty

Hi Betty No wonder you are having such a hard time finding ancestors, if your certs are missing information. I dont mean to be rude but it is the full records and not just the indexes you have ? Debbie

Betty I have just looked at scotlands people & it says on there... Deaths ...what info you can expect to find on Death Certs The following table indicates when particular details were introduced to and/or removed from statutory death registration. Please note that only images of statutory deaths from 1855 to 1955 are presently available to view on this site. Deceased: name, sex & marital status 1855 to date Deceased: date of birth 1966 to date Deceased: place of birth 1855 only Deceased: rank, profession or occupation 1855 to date Deceased: how long in the District? 1855 only Deceased: date, time & place of death 1855 to date Deceased: age at death 1855 to date Deceased: causes of death 1855 to date Deceased: duration of disease 1855 - 1964 Parents: name & rank, profession or occupation 1855 to date Parents: alive or deceased? 1855 to date Spouse: name 1855, sometimes 1856 - 60, then 1861 to date Children: names & ages at date of death certificate or age and year of death if child pre-deceased parent 1855 only Doctor: name of doctor certifying death 1855 to date Doctor: when last saw deceased alive 1855 - 1860 Burial place & name of undertaker 1855 - 1860 Informant: qualification & signature 1855 to date Informant: residence 1855 - 1965, then 1972 to date Registrar: date & place of registration, signature 1855 to date Maybe as you say if the parents were not born in Scotland their info was not added. Maybe they changed the way deaths are recorded in later years. Debbie sorry I know this dosen't help your search. Georgina.
