On the IGI familysearch.org says that there was a Mary Redpath born 8 Nov 1855 in Tranent who died 24 Jan 1926 and married a Philip Murphy on 16 Mar 1883. Her parents were Mary Banks and George Redpath apparently.

Hi Deb, Familysearch also has sister Rosina's parents listed as George Redpath and Mary Banks. There's a submitted entry for this too, but also an extracted entry. Liz

Debs I have sent you the copies x So basically it seems that she was in some form of relationship with Philip and having his children long before they married. Shaz x
