1861 That makes sense. Does the record mean William was living there with 4 children and Eliza and Susanna Rivers. Was Susanna the sister in law and later married her dead sister's first husband? And what happened to those Harvey children as on 1871 they are gone but Eliza is still there.

Darksecretz Report 15 May 2006 22:28

yes laura that's what i mean, william was a widow aged 36, and susanna is sister in law, i suppose really ought to have look for a marriage, but would be after ellens birth, so sometime after 1864 but before 1871, julie

Darksecretz Report 15 May 2006 22:58

that's about it i think, i cannot think of where else to go now, think you'll have to wait now for certs, as to where with ellen well, as far as we know ellen didnt have a middle name, all i came up with COULD be speculation, i think best cause of action to take would be to order her cert as harvey, and take it from there, we know her name was harvey, river trail could be red herring, oh har !!! LOL river and herring, duh!!!!! Julie

Julie you're right, river could be a red herring!!! Think i will get the poss Harvey cert as we know her parents should be listed as William and Susanna (thanks to you). If not, will go with the rivers one. Marriage cert seems likely as well from Brenda, thank you YOU A BOTH A STAR. Have got some questions answered tonight that have been puzzling me for weeks. Will post an update when they come through. Thanks for all your help. Laura

Hi Brenda Went to bed so only just back on line for a couple of hours! Thanks for looking up the births. Edward Arthur Guy is correct. I got that cert yesterday. He was born 25/07/1895. So therefore May Lilian can't be right. I have found an Alice May Guy Qtr1 1894 so that may be her. Thomas Guy was on the same quarter as Dorothy so that can't be her either, I am having a real problem with Dot!! If you can help with her I would be really grateful. Thomas dob is 9/10/1899 and on 1901 census he is 1. Dorothy is listed as 4 months so I know they were not twins. But I can't find Dorothy at all!! The scan is really vague it could be Dorothy but it has been passed round the family and everyone has come up with a different answer! It looks like Grotty to me! It must be a Wandsworth listing as Thomas' birth is and they were still there in 1901 at 7 Martins Buildings. Thomas was born at home at 7 Martins Buildings so Dorothy probably was aswell. If you can find anything I will be astounded! Regards laura

Brenda Have also started going down the harvey/rivers route and my head hurts now! But I have found that William Harvey originally married Elizabeth Rivers so Julie was spot on with her guesswork, but can't find a death cert for her or a listing for him marrying Susanna Rivers. Oh well, that's another day, am trying to finish off grandad's siblings grotty dorothy is the only one left!

Hi Brenda Thank you so much for posting that. It has really narrowed down my search. no 14 is older brother Tom so i know it is after that and before 1902 as she is on 1901 census. That leaves us with 16 Guy Theresa Maud Wandsworth.1d 572 Birth 3 1900 17 Guy Winifred Ada Wandsworth.1d 525 Birth 4 1900 18 Guy Louisa Wandsworth.1d 766 Birth 1 1901 Obviously none look like Grotty Dorothy but do you know of any name derivitaves of these. Otherwise I'm gonna have to order all three and I don't want to do that. I wonder if there's anyone on this site who might know.

As we established last night - hooray!! father's family were from Kings Lynn and mother's were in Harwich. I don't have any other information other than the family are still around the Wandsworth area, I know of no other links. I have assumed as they were living in Wandsworth Dorothy was born there but maybe that's not the case. If you can find otherwise I will owe you one ! Laura

Think I found a death cert for Ethel Guy in 1893 age 2 but know May married and had kids. My mum remembers visiting her as an old woman. The trouble is the only birth i can find is Alice May Guy but May is on census and she was known as May, and that marriage is in the right place at the right time AND the listing says May A Guy so may well be her. Thanx. Thomas Guy married also and he was living near Putney Bridge so would be in Wandsworth aswell I think. His dob is 09/10/1899. Am desperate to find his marriage and children

No 3 is daughter Ellen age 10 no 10 I am sure is Ellen mother which I am sure you agree no 20 James - the difference between his and ellens age seems to vary between 7-10 years through all the records but it still fits and am pretty confident that's him. Thanks so much x
