As Henry was not a named witness to the 1902 wedding, do you know for sure that he was still alive?

Have checked ancestry death index manually rom 1903-1915 and found no fewer than 14 henry Strongs died in that time-all possibles!! Tried to teace the 'Kennerleigh' Henry born about 1836. can't find him in 1871. This is when if he is william's father-he would have been in India. But I have a long long way to go!! also none of the ones I have looked at in 1901 say that they are retired army-I would have thought they would have put that? Break now for tea!!

Hi the son (William Henry John Strong) married Wilmott Bessie Davey In Parish Church of ALphington,Exeter,Devon 23 August 1902. The witness were Thomas William Ingram (Bessies sister Charlotte's husband-Charlotte was called 'Aniie' though!) and Alice Mary Pike-I haven't looked in to her yet I've just realised. William-Bachelor and Bessie Spinster. Address given Babbs Court Alphington-so is definitely them! William as Carpenter. Henry (Father) as Pensioner H.M Army. Thanks.X UPDATED Alice M Pike-living/born in Alphington born about 1887 On the same site my brother has is house now!! Think parents are Frederick Pike and Louisa Pike (Possibly Nee Stone. Marriage at Crediton of Frederick Pike and Louisa Stone 1883) another one originally from Crediton!! I thought it a nice place!-but they all seemed to leave.

as we dont really seem to be getting anywhere, with this line of enquiry, perhaps be better off looking for his death, after marriage of his son, we'll then get a better idea, when did his son marry???? at least if we can find a death we then can see if we can find other data, hope that made sense Julie

No they're not. Elizabeth husband on previous page. But other Alfords in nearby houses -and more Mortimores so they're probably all interbred anyway!

Familyfinder Report 14 May 2006 22:28

Is James sometimes used instaed of John? Just wondering whether the Elizabeth Stoneman and John Alford are in fact Eliza Alford and James Alford-perhaps they never actually married. I'll have to check dates on that now!!

I know nothing abot Henry-only he appears on Williams marriage cert-as Retired Army HMS-Someone told me William was born in Allahabad to 107th regiment-but that's it. Middle initial J or T-I can't be sure which!! (Henry)
