I am new at this and not as clever as the people sending you information. but i have to say reading the threads has been very entertaining.

Teresa, Thanks for that, but i have been in contact with her and shared info (Both familys linked by marriage) Thanks for the Suggestion though :) You listed that there was a Sarah in the clink (Prison) in the 1891 census. Does it say what for? (my curiousity is getting the better of me) Mark.

It happened in my tree, pub landlord, wife with consumption, he took a liking to the barmaid.... He did eventually marry the girl but only after she had given him four children (two while the wife was still alive)

*LOL*....so, you are saying he was servicing the servant??? Sounds like i was born 150 years too late.

If the wife was ill and laid up for a while before she died it may be that the servant was ..ahhemm... serving him!!!

Only way to know for sure is to order her birth cert - of course, it is possible that no father is mentioned on said cert!

If that is his first wifes death then i would say that the oldest Geal cant be his as it has her as being born a year before? Jane Geal abt 1867 You beat me to it...*LOL*

Untill i posted the message on her i was not even aware that he was married before. I would guess it would be between 1861 and 1873 when he married sarah Geal.

Do you know when his first wife (Mary) died? That might help work out who the father of Sarah's older children were.

Kingston Prison in 1881 *LOL*....i am not sure i want to know and besides there would be no way of finding out. (If it is anything like a x2 Gggrandmother it could be for attempted murder of the husband....*LOL*

Walter is looking after, though not acknowledging, the children in 1881. I should have thought that the youngest Geal was his as almost certainly born under his roof. The birth certificates for the elder two may provide circumstantial evidence: like address, or Walter being the informant, but you may never know for sure. It would be interesting to find out why she was in Kingston Prison in 1881!

Ahh, no... the transcription is wrong. That's all :) It had Peter down as being born 1832 lol I'll go read the image :) Ok... Walter is down as being 30 or 39 - there's a big line through the 0/9. Peter is 13. Frank is 10. Herbert is 8. (PS - you didn't offend. I just couldn't see why it didn't make sense lol)

Orange... I was not picking holes when i said it did not make sense to me. You posted the 1871 census and it had walter as being born around 1841........That is what did not make sense as i know he was baptised in 1832. Sorry if i offened.
