Maureen You can't be 'sure' of anything without the certs................a sad but costly fact of genealogy. I wasted 16 units on 1837 looking for a McCormick marriage with the wrong first name! Reg

Don't forget, it could be that she was married before she married Robert, in which case her name on the index for the marriage to Robert would not be Norwood, but whatever her first husband's surname was. I am pretty sure it will give this information on your mum's birth certificate, but on the births index it only gives mother's maiden name, not any other names she may have had. So the birth certificate may well help. Kate.

You sem to be not quite understanding what has been found! If yiou send for the birth reg of Eva McCormick (which i am sure you know of the name of you own mother , then her mothers maiden name WAS Norwood - Yes the cert will tell you her christian name which may help, but millicent/Millie/Malia or even mahala hasnt even come into the equasion yet! Eva was born To someone by the maiden (or previously married name of course ) of Norwood

I know Kath came up with the Norwood name,but that was with my nans name which I called her Millicent,I have now found out that in fact her name was Malia. I wanted to be sure,before I add them to my family tree... Maureen

Hi everyone..its me again... I rang my brother this afternoon Just had a phone call back from him...He had an insurance policy on her. My nans name was Malia ..born 4th Aug 1900. I think everyone must have called Millie or Millicent so thats why we always thought thats what her name was. could you please do a check on that name..Maureen
