Is there a reason why you have bought this to the top of the boards after nearly 6 years? Are you looking for more help?

Back now - don't forget that Ellen could be Samuel's second wife for all we know, not the Smith one. Kate.

Pippa - I think your Smith / Moor* just goes to prove that you can never assume anything with ancestors and census info needs to backed with certs.

PippaMelanie

PippaMelanie Report 31 Oct 2005 12:09

oooh dear arn't our ancestors confusing! well it seems that maybe his mum was called sarah but my sarah seems to be the same one.....although she does change age a couple of years either side each census. looks like more searching for me

Esta

Esta Report 31 Oct 2005 12:05

I think you need to trace Samuel Moor* back in the cenus - he MAY not have married a daughter Good luck Esta

1861 Census Samuel Moore abt 1826 Romsey, Hampshire, England Head St Mary Extra Hampshire Samuel Moore abt 1856 Romsey, Hampshire, England Son St Mary Extra Hampshire Sarah Moore abt 1829 Timobury, Hampshire, England Wife St Mary Extra Hampshire Sarah L Moore abt 1859 Romsey, Hampshire, England Daughter St Mary Extra Hampshire This suggests his mother was Sarah, although p.o.b. is not the same

PippaMelanie

PippaMelanie Report 31 Oct 2005 11:59

Esta Report 31 Oct 2005 11:53

Not sure this helps as you don't mention a daughter called Ellen - followed Samuel through the folowing census and I think this is him . 1891 - Possible Samuel Moor* Moore, Ellen abt 1864 Chilworth, Hampshire, England Wife Hursley Hampshire **Moore, Samuel abt 1856 Romsey, Hampshire, England Head Hursley Hampshire Moore, Samuel E E abt 1889 Baddesley, Hampshire, England Son Hursley Hampshire 1901 Ellen Moore abt 1865 Southampton, Hampshire, England Wife Chilworth Hampshire Ellen Moore abt 1894 Ampfield; Hursley, Hampshire, England Daughter Chilworth Hampshire Louise Moore abt 1899 North Stoneham, Hampshire, England Daughter Chilworth Hampshire Samuel Moore abt 1826 Romsey, Hampshire, England Boarder Chilworth Hampshire ** Samuel Moore abt 1856 Romsey, Hampshire, England Head Chilworth Hampshire Samuel Moore abt 1889 North Stoneham, Hampshire, England Son Chilworth Hampshire

Kate

Kate Report 31 Oct 2005 11:52

Well, if you're certain that the wife is the same Sarah as in 1851, then all I can suggest is as I said before, search for the marriage in the surnames Moore and More as well as Moor, and also look for him on the 1891 and 1901 to see if his wife is with him on either of those. I'm afraid I haven't got time to help search just now as I have to go out. Good luck! I know how difficult Smiths can be to trace... Kate.

1881 has him born 1857 not 1867 which is right ?
