NINA HERMITAGE Hope you are ready for this. When you gave me the areas to look at I am about to list all Thomas's living in those areas ion the census. it took quite a while because you have to search the index and try and link the families. it is not like ancestry where it lists the household. I searched all names from 1 to 100 this is them below. I have tried to put them in what I think is their respective families. I think now you have said Benjamin was Elizabeth and Williams son. I have found her he must have been Dead. Have a look see what you think. I will do Madley 1st William Thomas Age 80 Piece No 1978 Folio 399b Catherine Thomas Age 36 Piece No. 1978 Folio 399a Joseph Thomas Age 36 Piece No. 1978 Folio 399a (these could all be living together. the difference in Numbers in this case would probably mean same family but Joseph and Catherine were listed on the bottom of first page and William on the next. I have found this to be the case, some famalies split between two pages of the census. -------------------------------------------------------- Madley William Thomas Age 46 Piece 1978 page 408b Mary Thomas Age 70 Piece 1978 Folio 408b Joseph Thomas Age 74 Piece 1978 folio 408a -------------------------------------------------------- Madley William thomas Age 38 Piece 1978 389b Elizabeth Thomas Age 44 Piece 1978 folio 389b Mary Ann Thomas Age 11 Piece 1978 folio 389b ---------------------------------------------- Madley William Thomas Age 19 Piece 1978 folio 400b ------------------------------------------------ Madley Mark Thomas Age 57 Piece 1978 folio 410a Mary thomas Age 46 Piece 1978 folio 410a James Thomas Age 22 Piece 1978 folio 410a William thomas Age 20 Piece 1978 folio 410a Samuel Thomas Age 17 Piece 1978 folio 410a Hanna Thomas Age 15 Piece 1978 folio 410b John Thomas Age 10 Piece 1978 folio 410b Charles Thomas Age 13 Piece 1978 folio 410a Mary Thomas Age 7 Piece 1978 folio 410b Elizabeth Thomas Age 4 Piece 1978 folio 410b ------------------------------------------------------------ Madley Benjamin Thomas Age 50 Piece 1978 folio 394a Elizabeth Thomas Age 56 Piece 1978 folio 394a Benjamin Thomas Age 14 Piece 1978 folio 394a Elizabeth Thomas Ag3 13 Piece 1978 folio 304a Sarah Thomas Age 10 Piece 1978 folio 304a ------------------------------------------------------ Eaton Bishop Elizabeth Thomas Age 90 Piece 1977 folio 577b Harriet Thomas Age 26 Piece 1977 folio 577b James Thomas Age 31 Piece 1977 folio 577b Mary Thomas Age 68 Piece 1977 folio 577b -------------------------------------------------- Eaton Bishop Mary Thomas Age 23 Piece 1977 folio 570b ------------------------------------------------- Eaton Bishop Mary Thomas Age 94 Piece 1977 folio 579b Hope you have fun sorting this lot out, hope it helps and they are yours let me know how you get on Regards Mary

Thanks for trying. That's just about a possibility. I am waiting for his daughter's marriage certificate and thought we might get a short cut direct to the father.

Hi Mary, Thank you very much for the time you have spent looking for me. It is much appreciated. Jesse is my particular ancestor. I believe he was born in Tanworth-in-Arden in Warks in c1832. He married in Dudley in 1857. Basically I'm trying to find him somewhere (anywhere!) between those dates. The area borders the counties of Worcs, Staffs & Warks. I have an index to Staffs '51, including Dudley, and he wasn't in that county. I'm going through Warks '41 as it comes on line - his birthplace is already online - he wasn't there. I'm hoping that he is somewhere along the corridor between Tanworth & Dudley - places like Stourbridge, Halesowen somewhere in that north-west corner of Worcestershire. I have Jesse on all the other censuses from 1861-1901, both his marriages, his children & his death - I'm just trying to find proof he didn't drop out of the sky! Thanks again for your time. Helen

Hello Mary Would be grateful if you could check out both Worcs and Herefordshire for me for John CARTER born Bredon, Worcs 1808 Don't know anything about who/if he married, as I've not been able to find anything on him apart from his baptism at Bredon. Many thanks Barbara

CLARE ELLIS Hi Clare, Found him on the 1861 but not on 1851 found loads of Greens in Bosbury but only one possible for James James Age 29 Living Ledbury, Living it seems on his own so would make him already a widoer in 1851 perhaps they had no children although with your James and Mary on 1851 there is one boy aged 10 Maybe son but could be Grandson it does not state. Also with them in Bosbury is a Ann age 22 and John age 26. Mary

BARBARA FISHER Hi found him on 1881 Census living with Wife Eliza although age would suggest he was born 1804/1805 living New Street Upton on Severn Worcestershire. Eliza was born Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Cant find them on any other census as yet or any children. do you know Johns Parents names and batisim date. it would help to start from there. Also found possible Death 1884 Age 80 Upton on Severn Vol 6c Page 179 Mary

JANET H Hi Janet, Have found them on 1851 living Kings Norton there is only John and Wife Esther she is stated as 53 which would mean her birth c1798 1861 census looks like 60 which would make 1801 they did tend to get the ages wrong quite a lot of times. nothing for James are you sure he was their son and not grandson. as this would mean he was poss born when is mother was over 50. Have also found this death which would confirm Esther as being born lat 1700's Esther Anderson Age 77 Death 1874 Dec Q Vol6c page 296 have not found a death for John as yet.

Hello Mary Thanks for your reply re John CARTER born 1808 Bredon. The John CARTER you found at Upton on Severn on 1881 census is not mine - I know this from his 2nd marriage to Eliza (I have the certificate) when he names his father as William CARTER. The father of the John CARTER I'm looking for was James CARTER. The death details too are for the Upton on Severn John CARTER. Of course, by age 76 when he married Eliza he could have become a bit forgetful as to who his father was..... Many thanks for looking. Barbara
