Hi Glen, Thanks for your kind offer of help. My Grandfather was James Bond HASSON, born November 1880 in Ireland (most probably Londonderry). He came to England, lied about his age to join the Navy (so the above birthdate we think might be out by a few months but not years) and married Bessie Maud Mary TOWNSEND in January 1907. They went on to have 9 children, one of whom was my Mum. My problem is that we know nothing more about his family. Apparently he had a sister Cissie who came to find him c.1930 and told him that his mother had died (but don't know when) and his mother was possibly Matilda or Cis. I don't know what info is available to you through Irish Origins but if the foregoing gives you a lead I would be over the moon. Thanks very much in advance. Best wishes - Vanda

Vander, I found a James Hasson in the Griffiths Valuation Index as follows; Occupier - HASSON, JAMES Name Lessor - WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF DRAPERS County - LONDONDERRY Parish - DERRYLORAN Townland - BALLYLOUGHAN However you say that he was born in 1880 and the index stops at 1864, this may have been his father? Also the records searchable for Ireland are very old as per following. Dublin City Census (1851) Irish Wills Index (1484-1858) Militia Attestations Index (1872-1915) Irish Passenger Lists (1890) Griffith's Valuation Index (1847-1864)

Hi, I am trying to find a marriage and a death The marriage is for Ellen Burke and William Ross at about 1921 - 1924. 1924 is when their fist child was born and he was born in Athy in Kildare. At some point William had the children put into a convent after 1927 and came to England on his own so I am assuming that Ellen must have died. As you can imagine I am pulling my hair out on this one so ay help will be greatfully received.

They were documents filled in at the time of recruitment and contain much personal data. The Origins Network will be making available indexes to over a hundred thousand militia attestations, covering the whole of the British Isles, for the period of late 19th & early 20th centuries. For all the militia attestations in these indexes you can order copies of the original documents online from The Origins Network Essex Regiment This dataset indexes the attestations for 12,300 recruits to the 3rd and 4th battalions The Essex Regiment, between 1886 and 1910. Two thirds of these militiamen were born in Essex and a further 20% were from the adjacent counties of Middlesex, Suffolk, and Kent; the remainder were from all over the British Isles and abroad. Suffolk Regiment & Suffolk Royal Garrison Artillery The index covers the attestations for 3,450 recruits to the Suffolk Regiment (3rd and 4th battalions), and 2,170 recruits to the Suffolk Royal Garrison Artillery (now the Royal Artillery), for the period 1887 to 1908. 61% of the recruits were from Suffolk, but these militia also recruited from Cambridgeshire, which accounts for a further 24%. Middlesex Regiment The index covers the attestations for 11,500 recruits to the 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th Battalions of the Middlesex Regiment, for the period 1860 to 1901. Of these recruits, 73% are from Middlesex or London, with a further 13% from Kent and Surrey. There are a smattering from outside England: Ireland (84), Scotland (51) and Wales (41). Ireland's Royal Garrison Artillery This dataset is an index to Militia Attestation Papers, for the period 1872 to 1915, for over 12,500 militiamen in the Royal Garrison Artillery (present day Royal Artillery) in Ireland. The Royal Garrison Artillery had militia in the counties of Antrim, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Limerick, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford and Wicklow, plus Ulster; it is not clear what the difference is between the militia for Ulster - which of course contains County Antrim - and that for County Antrim. (At The National Archives, the Attestation Papers for Ulster, Antrim and Waterford are contained within the same box, though sorted separately. While the Ulster papers do not contain men born in Antrim, the Antrim and the Ulster papers both contain men born in Armagh.) Although most Attestation Papers for a particular militia are for men born in that county, there are many papers for each county where the men were born in adjacent counties (particularly where these adjacent counties had no militia of their own), and often in counties quite far away. In such cases, the men were most likely to be living at the time of Attestation in or adjacent to the county whose militia they had volunteered for.

Hi Glen Thanks for the offer I am searching for a Michael Mining born in Ireland c1821 possibly county Cork, married to Catherine also born in Ireland c1821. At some point came over to England possibly Islington London. Trying to find Birth details and Marriage details , I can only find them in the 1881 cenus and then no trace. Many thanks Sandra

My gt gt gt grandfather Malachi Reed bn 1799 Ireland married Mary O'Hara bn 1807 Ireland they married abt 1830/31 had six children then moved to Houghton-le Spring in County Durham abt 1847 and had another four children. My PROBLEM.. I have struggled to find anything on Malachi Reeds Birth or Marriage in Ireland..or Mary O'Hara's Can you help...? Malachi died 1875 aged 76 Mary died 1857 aged 50 I need help badly Negative Hair Mike

Hi Glen Thank you for the offer of look ups. If possible could you please see if there is anything in the Dublin area for John LITT born about 1808. He was married in Cumberland, England in 1832. The 1861 & 71 censuses say he was born in Ireland and the 1881 that he was born in Dublin. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Liz

Hi Glen Could you possibly please look up Elizabeth Nichols in Middx, she died in 1892 age 36, that places her birth around 1856. Her father was William Henry Nichols. Her birth on census docs after her marriage to William Crawley [marriage details wrongly state Crowley] is stated as St Martins Middx. I have downloaded all GRO records for the period but cannot find a listing for that place. I found one census record for 1861 which could be right, the mother is stated as Eliza, Elizabeth is stated as age 4, however I am not sure this is mine as birth area just says London. I have her marriage certificate which states her father is a bootmaker. Many thanks Regards Christina
