There is a 'Gennie Roberts' age 19 on 1891 Wales census in Denbighshire - not the right age, though, so I'm guessing this isn't the right one but info for her and her parents is below: 1891 Wales Census Roberts, Gaynor 54 Llanstffraid, Denbighshire Wife Roberts, Gennie 19 Llanstffraid, Denbighshire Daughter Roberts, Richard 54 Llanstffraid, Denbighshire Head

Sarah youre great; at least I know Im not imagining this person!! And thats right, she was linked with Bridgend. So Gentina existed, just seems odd I cant 'find' her...

I would be careful..... My Great Aunt was always known as Joyce. When I started my FT 2 yrs ago, it was me that had to explain to the entire family that her name was actually Wilhelmina. She married as Joyce as well. Both her parents were dead by the time she was 11 and no one ever told her any different. Dancer x

Hi Middle names on Ancestry are sometimes only an initial especially if there were several middle names or they coulnt read it very well. Julie

Thanks Julie and Helen. Hadn't thought of it being a middle name, so thats a possibility!

Even if Gentina was a middle name, it should still be picked up in the Ancestry civil reg. index. nell

Hi Could Gentina be her middle name which she used as her main name? A few in my family have been using there middle names on census's etc . I'm sure they did it on purpose to confuse us Lol . Julie

basically you need to clarify some facts, by perhaps even starting as recently as your own father. Where was he born - prob has his own birth cert. Will give his mothers maiden name.then find her birth cert, which will give her mothers name and maiden name Seems word of mouth isn't hanging together for you, so dont see as there is any other way jess

That was my thought, Violet cant have been her only child. Unfortunately my dad doesn't know anything of his aunts/uncles if they existed.

RStar Report 17 Apr 2005 18:01

No-one knows when they married, someone's tried to find the cert and can't!! Odd. I dont know Percy's DOB, although I'd imagine he wasnt much different in age to Gentina. She was born 1875.

The Bag

The Bag Report 17 Apr 2005 17:59

Violet can't have been her only child - at the age of 49?

RStar

RStar Report 17 Apr 2005 17:58

Pronounced 'Jen-teena' apparently, very unusual I think. We're not a foreigh family though. Gentina was my great gran (my dads mums mum).

RStar

RStar Report 17 Apr 2005 17:57

They had a daughter called Violet born 7/8/1924, born S.Wales, maybe Bridgend.
