Registered OK. Went to purchase some units, entered card details OK, got through the first three screens OK then got a message asking for further verification details - however, there were no buttons or anything on the screen to enable me to proceed! Had to re-log on at the home page, and of course - no units had been credited. So, definitely some teething problems I think.

is working fine for me. I have been in and out of it constantly since about 5pm. Am very impressed. I have found lots of ancestors I could not find on 1837 and freebmd. Obviously the event is in the year brackets of 1866-1920 otherwise it might be a different story.

CelticShiv Report 17 Jan 2005 17:28

Hiya If you are searching the years 1866 to 1920 then if is fully transcribed and full name searchable - unlike freebmd which is not complete and 1837 which allows you to search by a full name, but doesn't guarantee that they will be on the page. If you are searching the years 1921 to 1983, then these years are NOT complete and only allows you to search by surname. If you are searching the years 1984 - 2002 then this is fully searchable, but you cannot view images of the pages of index. The years 1837 to 1865 are being transcribed so will be coming soon. So if you are looking for an event between 1866-1920 then it is very useful.

What else does it offer that's better than FreeBMD? Does it actually find the right person for you (as in the same name that you typed in)? Chloe

maybe i got the wrong impression... i have a membership to another site which gives me database access to all births/deaths/marriages from 1984-2002, all i do is put in a name and wait for the results.... magic..... this site i don't think is like that. i guess you have to search within the results.... major rip off.

Well I got in OK - what a confusing way to display the results. Took me a while to work out that it was giving names of the first and last people on each page. Is this going to work out any cheaper than 1837online - anyone know?

Hi All I tried the familyrelatives(.)org address and my computer recognised a fault/?virus and a msg siad that it may be a webpage pretending to be familyrelatives and to beware posting personal details!!!! Sarah

CelticShiv Report 16 Jan 2005 22:17

I believe it will be just the index the same as you get at the family records centre (so not the actual certificate). It will be better than other websites offering this service because it is full name searchable. 1837 online also offers full name searches now, but you cannot guarantee the person you are looking for will on the pages. with familyrelatives you can. regards, Siobhan

Susan Report 16 Jan 2005 22:05

Managed to register and get in ... and do a free search. Didn't think much of how it displayed the results on screen ... and it seemed to scramble dates ... sure it will end up being very useful, but might leave it to bed in for a few weeks! S:>
