sorry for bringing this up again folks but my g grandmother is driving me mad. Her name was Annie Truscott and working backwards here is all the information i have on her She died in 1944 aged 60 as Annie Crankshaw at 91 eccles old road but lived at 37 walter street In 1926 She gave birth to Elisabeth Crankshaw In 1925 she married George Crankshaw she was a widow and used the name Annie Bellis. Fathers name on the certificate was Edward Truscott In 1922 she gave birth to twins Stephen and David Bellis and she registered the births in her name Annie Bellis Formally Truscott. The fathers name was not registered but i later found out that george crankshaw was the father In 1913 she gave birth to Jack Bellis In 1912 she gave birth to Edward Bellis, fathers name Edward Bellis whos occupation was a carter and they lived at 62 Charlotte street, salford In 1910 She gave birth to Edith Truscott, no father and she was living at 90 Eccles new road and was a domestic servant at 60 marlborough road. I have recently found out that eccles new road was actually salford union workhouse. The problems i have are these, Every Annie Truscott i can find on the census about the same age do not have the father Edward. I cannot find any marriage of an Annie Truscott and Edward Bellis I havent got a clue were she was from. Alot of the births are for london (the kilburn 1 i have the certificate for but fathers nmae was john e truscott, the e could stand for edward but on all census he always uses john, and i dont want to trace this line until there is a definate link Could annie be short for anything but ann. Could she have been born under a different name? Has any1 out there got any ideas at all????????/ Sorry for droning on but sometimes things may come to you if you type it all out eh? Unfortunately it didnt help much. Any advice would be greatly recieved, thanks for taking a look

Lynsey, Do the ages on her marriage and death certs tie up? What was Edward Truscott's occupation and who were the witnesses to the marriage? Crista

Hi Lynsey Perhaps Annie was her second name? I found that granddad's sister was Annie in 1881 but Sarah A. in 1871. Heather

Can't remember from the other threads but when you say you can't find marriage of Annie and Edward Bellis - was 1837online searched for this?? Tricia

Lynsey

Lynsey Report 15 Dec 2004 14:08

trisa 1837 was searched but could not find it at all. crista, her death certificate says shewas 60 when she died and it was her son that registered her death. Her marriage certificate states she was 42 , the marriage took place 3 oct 1925. Witnesses were H stephenson and E McClellan who I have not come across so dont know who they are. Her father was Edward Truscott deceased- Chemical works labourer. i can place her in salford from 1910 until her death but where she was before, i dont know

Lynsey

Lynsey Report 15 Dec 2004 14:10

her death was 3 dec 1944 so we are a year outon her age i think

Lynsey Report 15 Dec 2004 14:21

Unfortunately what I think you need to do is spend a few pennies and look through 1883 and 1884 for all the births of Annie Truscott - and if there aren't too many send for the certs til you get the right one. Has anyone done this??

Crista Report 15 Dec 2004 22:40

Lynsey, It's possible to search by occupation for the 1881 and 1901 censuses. All the Truscotts who were chemical workers were in Widnes. That might be a clue. Crista

Lynsey

Lynsey Report 15 Dec 2004 23:25

crista would you believe that i actually live in widnes!!!! I havent been to the local library here because everything seemed to be based in manchester. Thank you it is an avenue i have nevwer thought of before, it is something i am definately going to look at :- )

This may be interesting at some point. On the 1891 census. They have very kindly left it blank when it should say married or single. Edwin Truscott Boarder age 27 Labourer Chemical born Widnes. Living in the household of Edward Matthews at 60 Wright St,Widnes. May not be connected but you never know.

Lynsey

Lynsey Report 15 Dec 2004 23:54

i will check that out tricia, i know the names of most of the chemical plants here as my nans side of the family The Hooligans lived and worked in widnes ever since thwey came from ireland. Because my grandad died before i was born he was always a mystery to mr that is why i am looking for his side as i thought my nans would be easy living in widnes and all. Thanks for that both of you , trip to widnes library tommorrow me thinks!

Remind me -was the Annie staying with Edward Eburn in London a red herring. I remember the names but can't remember why???

Tiamo

Tiamo Report 16 Dec 2004 00:06

Are we going round in circles again. The only Edwin Truscott on 1901 is now married to Mary living in Widnes with a family all born Widnes but with Edwin now born St Toss Cornwall. Now working in manure.(as it were). Why does all this ring bells. Have they been mentioned before??I'll see if I can spot him on 1881. All very strange

Lynsey

Lynsey Report 16 Dec 2004 00:17

yes tricia ,thats the one. Annie was living with edward eburn in 1891, but she must have been just visiting as in 1901 she is back with parents. I have done a bit of research on this family, i even had this annies birth certificate 'by mitake' before any of these details were found by yourself and others. I still am very unsure about thisfamily as I also found a 2nd Edward Eburn living with that family in 1901 and also found marriage records for him marrying an annie truscott. Surely this was not a coinsidence. But if she did marry him she wouldnt have had a daughter called Edith truscott in 1910 up in manchester would she? I dont know, maybe this is her, ran away from her marriage and returned to her maiden name but , i dont know I just think there wasnt enough evidence to proof a vital link. This annies father was John E truscott, and as i said earlier this could be the father she is referring to as the e may stand for edward and he prefered his middle name but with her ending up in a workhouse in manchester and giving birth to an illigitamate child, was she bannished there by family or just unable to support herself?

This is Edwin in 1881 which clarifys that birthplace. He is born in Cornwall but living Widnes so a mistake was made on 1891. I still think he looks interesting. No Edwards around.Of course he may be Edward but just wanted to be trendy??? Match Quality Name Estimated Birth Year Birthplace Relationship Residence View Image Andrew Truscott abt 1839 St Stephensons, Cornwall, England Head Widnes Edwin Truscott abt 1863 St Taurel, Cornwall, England Son Widnes Elizabeth Truscott abt 1866 St Taurel, Cornwall, England Daughter Widnes Frederick Truscott abt 1869 St Taurel, Cornwall, England Son Widnes If this was Annie's father where the devil is she? What was that John E's occupation. Go on, tell me it was Chemicals or manure. I still think there maybe a bit of unravelling to do yet.
