This may be interesting at some point. On the 1891 census. They have very kindly left it blank when it should say married or single. Edwin Truscott Boarder age 27 Labourer Chemical born Widnes. Living in the household of Edward Matthews at 60 Wright St,Widnes. May not be connected but you never know.

crista would you believe that i actually live in widnes!!!! I havent been to the local library here because everything seemed to be based in manchester. Thank you it is an avenue i have nevwer thought of before, it is something i am definately going to look at :- )

Lynsey, It's possible to search by occupation for the 1881 and 1901 censuses. All the Truscotts who were chemical workers were in Widnes. That might be a clue. Crista

Unfortunately what I think you need to do is spend a few pennies and look through 1883 and 1884 for all the births of Annie Truscott - and if there aren't too many send for the certs til you get the right one. Has anyone done this??

trisa 1837 was searched but could not find it at all. crista, her death certificate says shewas 60 when she died and it was her son that registered her death. Her marriage certificate states she was 42 , the marriage took place 3 oct 1925. Witnesses were H stephenson and E McClellan who I have not come across so dont know who they are. Her father was Edward Truscott deceased- Chemical works labourer. i can place her in salford from 1910 until her death but where she was before, i dont know

Heather Report 15 Dec 2004 10:51

Hi Lynsey Perhaps Annie was her second name? I found that granddad's sister was Annie in 1881 but Sarah A. in 1871. Heather

Lynsey, Do the ages on her marriage and death certs tie up? What was Edward Truscott's occupation and who were the witnesses to the marriage? Crista

sorry for bringing this up again folks but my g grandmother is driving me mad. Her name was Annie Truscott and working backwards here is all the information i have on her She died in 1944 aged 60 as Annie Crankshaw at 91 eccles old road but lived at 37 walter street In 1926 She gave birth to Elisabeth Crankshaw In 1925 she married George Crankshaw she was a widow and used the name Annie Bellis. Fathers name on the certificate was Edward Truscott In 1922 she gave birth to twins Stephen and David Bellis and she registered the births in her name Annie Bellis Formally Truscott. The fathers name was not registered but i later found out that george crankshaw was the father In 1913 she gave birth to Jack Bellis In 1912 she gave birth to Edward Bellis, fathers name Edward Bellis whos occupation was a carter and they lived at 62 Charlotte street, salford In 1910 She gave birth to Edith Truscott, no father and she was living at 90 Eccles new road and was a domestic servant at 60 marlborough road. I have recently found out that eccles new road was actually salford union workhouse. The problems i have are these, Every Annie Truscott i can find on the census about the same age do not have the father Edward. I cannot find any marriage of an Annie Truscott and Edward Bellis I havent got a clue were she was from. Alot of the births are for london (the kilburn 1 i have the certificate for but fathers nmae was john e truscott, the e could stand for edward but on all census he always uses john, and i dont want to trace this line until there is a definate link Could annie be short for anything but ann. Could she have been born under a different name? Has any1 out there got any ideas at all????????/ Sorry for droning on but sometimes things may come to you if you type it all out eh? Unfortunately it didnt help much. Any advice would be greatly recieved, thanks for taking a look
